Located on the western side of Glacier National Park, Lake McDonald Lodge, which first opened in 1914, rests on the shores of Lake McDonald, the deepest lake within Glacier National Park. The lodge is also an essential stop along the western end of the Going-to-the-Sun Road, one of the most scenic drives in the United States.
Lake McDonald Lodge offers activities such as the Red Bus Tours, evening ranger programs, and boat tours. There is no need for a fishing license inside the park so bring your fishing gear.
There is also kayaking and canoeing on the lake. There is a gift shop located inside the lodge and a camp-store about 300 yards from the main lodge. The gift shop offers everything from postcards to beautiful Native American jewelry. The camp-store carries groceries for campers and for picnics and things you may have forgotten along with huckleberry gifts for all the family.
There are a few dining options at Lake McDonald including the Russell's Fireside Dining Room located inside the lodge. The dining room has a breakfast buffet open from 6:30 AM to 10 AM, along with full lunch and dinner menus. Lunch is available from 11:30 AM to 2 PM and dinner is available from 5 PM to 9:30 PM.
Lucke's Lounge is the bar located next to the dining room and offers an open view of Lake McDonald with outdoor seating. It offers a bar menu from 11:30 AM to 10 PM. The bar is open for drinks from 11:30 AM to 11 PM.
Jammer Joe's Grill and Pizzeria is located across the parking lot from the Main Lodge. It is a family-style restaurant opened from 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM. There are an all-you-can-eat pasta, pizza, and salad buffet along with lunch and dinner menus.

Snyder Hall, a converted historic dormitory, features eight hostel-style rooms. These dormitory-style accommodations feature either one set of bunk beds or one double bed. Located on the first or second floor, separate from the main lodge, these rooms have access to communal shared bathrooms. Guests staying in the Snyder Rooms will share a microwave, coffee machine, community phone, iron, and ironing board, all of which are available in the common area.

Newly renovated, the Cobb House Suite is located within walking distance to the main lodge. It is a separate house that features a two-room suite. These rooms are located on the first or second floor, accessible by stairs only. Each suite offers a sitting area with a sofabed and a separate bedroom with one queen bed. The Cobb House also offers a full bathroom, fireplace and large exterior porch (with a shared sitting area).

The Large Cabins are located adjacent to the main lodge in a single unit. These cabins feature either two double beds and one twin bed, or one queen and one twin bed. Each cabin has a 3/4 private bathroom with a shower only. These cabins have limited forest and landscape views.

These charming and historic main lodge rooms feature one queen bed and a 3/4 bath with shower only. These rooms are located on the second or third floor above the lobby of Lake McDonald Lodge (accessed via stair only/no elevator), and although they are close to the waterfront, these rooms do not offer any lake views.

These cozy cabins are a short walk away from the main building and feature one double bed, two double beds, or one queen bed, and a 3/4 bath (shower only). With limited views of the surrounding landscape and parking area, these rooms are nuzzled into a scenic forested area. These rooms do not accommodate a rollaway bed, the maximum number of guests per room is based on the bedding arrangement. Please note in the comments if you prefer one bed.

The Large Cabin Suites are located away from the main lodge area in multiplex buildings. The cabin suites offer a sitting room with a double sofa sleeper, a 3/4 bathroom with shower only, and a bedroom with a queen bed, there is no door between the bedroom and sitting area. These cabins have heat, but no air conditioning.
