The staff there are nice and funny, the whole environment is very comfortable and enjoyable! Best wishes for them, hope they can get upgrade about the star soon! Highly recommended!!!

Not A Chain Motel - And That's A Good Thing!

We don't like chain restaurants because they are predictable and formulaic. Same goes for hotels and motels. Yes, you can have a nice meal at a chain restaurant or a nice stay at a chain hotel or motel. But when you go rogue - finding a locally owned place - you get ADVENTURE and memorable experiences! The Parry Lodge will now become our go-to in Kanab. We've stayed at the chains there but found the Parry Lodge wonderful with local flavor and homey warmth. For one thing, when you call you don't get an operator in Atlanta or Asia, asking which location you'd like. We got "Leah" who was warm, accommodating and helpful. She booked us a room in minutes on a "No Vacancy" weekend. And the price beat all other chains. The fun part is the history! This is the place where many movie stars stayed during a heyday of filming westerns, TV shows and other movies. Each room (or most of them) are named after movie stars. We stayed in the Tim Conway room. There was a framed poster on the wall for Apple Dumpling Gang which he was in. We decided to watch a YouTube video with Conway in it - very funny! Our room had three rooms - the bedroom with a queen-sized bed, the bathroom and a living/TV room. It was comfortable with plenty of furniture - a nice couch and arm chairs, table, microwave, fridge and big screen TV. It was perfect. This is an old motel - it's 150 years old! It's ok if there is a bit of peeling paint or other wear and tear - don't compare it to the newer chains - just enjoy the ambiance! We had stayed at a chain the night before we stayed at the Parry Lodge. They both gave a grab-and-go breakfast bag. At the chain hotel we got a mini water, a mini bagel with cream cheese packet, an orange and a granola bar. At the Parry we got a large water, a danish, a yogurt, a string cheese, an apple, a granola bar, a Capri Sun juice and a cup of cut fruit. Wow! Such a difference! We actually enjoyed breakfast at the Parry! It's sad the restaurant portion is closed because of Covid - they have lovely food there! There's a pool with tables and chairs near the front of the motel. We ate some of our take-out meals there. There are also fire pits at the front - it was nice to sit and relax with friends there at the end of the day. We got to visit with other travelers there. Parry shows a movie, maybe nightly, in a barn toward the north of the property. We missed the movie this time but will try again another time. In the lobby there are glossy papers with suggested hikes and other activities - we took several and enjoyed hiking to dinosaur footprints north of town.

My girlfriend and I just happen to stumble upon this hotel/lodge while checking out accommodations on T.A,.....and we sure are glad we did. This lodge was used as a ''base'' for so many western movies and t.v shows. There is so much history here. First our room was beautiful and had a classy western decor. The pool was small but very nice. You can tell it was original because there is actually a 10 ft deep part of the pool,...and I don't even think they can be built that deep anymore. There is a very cozy fire pit that was lit each night we were there. Also,...they show mostly western movies each night in a refurbished barn in the back that was a throwback to the movie days of yesteryear. Restaurants of different catagories are within walking distance of this hotel and the town of Kanab is like a modern day Mayberry or Bedford Falls. We highly recommend this hote.

We needed a one night stay en route to our final destination. Booked the Parry Lodge based on price and reviews. I was enchanted the moment we drove up, which was kind of late at night. It is charming, straight out of a classic movie. Very clean, which is important in Covid World. We enjoyed our morning coffee in the rocking chairs on the front porch and watched the traffic. Kanab has changed and grown up quite a bit since I lived here in my youth. I hope to stay at the Parry Lodge again when I have more time to spend in Kanab.

a MUST stay in Kanab

We hit the jackpot when we chose this wonderful place to stay!! Loved EVERYTHING about this motel!! The staff was very helpful with our questions about the surrounding area sights. There are great restaurants within walking distance. The rooms are very spacious and the beds are the most comfortable beds to sleep in!! We enjoyed watching an old-time Western movie in the red barn they have too! We chose this place after visiting Bryce Canyon for just 1 night. Decided to stay 2 more nights so we could enjoy Pink Coral Sand Dunes and Zion National Par]k. The take-out breakfast was the BEST breakfast we had on our 10 day trip to Utah. Sure wish we could have stayed longer here!! One of the most quaint, picturesque, well- cared for motels we have EVER stayed in!!! Will definitely stay here again and will HIGHLY recommend the PARRY LODGE to ALL!!
