Great family owned & run place
Our family of five (two adults, three kids ages 10-14) stayed in the Wolf Den at the Great Bear Inn recently. There was plenty of room for all five of us with my wife and I in the downstairs bedroom and the kids in the loft upstairs. Larry and Bunny were fantastic hosts and they make a killer breakfast. The Inn served as a perfect jumping off point to Glacier National Park for us.

The Wolf Den - Perfect
We stayed July 3rd through July 8th in the Wolf Den (the smaller cabin). It was perfect and everything we were looking for—away from business, close to the park entrance, good breakfast, and someone to help/who was familiar with the area/the park. We got all of this. Even though it was just my husband and myself we wanted a cabin, so that we could have our own space/have quietness but I also wanted a good b real fast every morning so that I wouldn’t have to worry about good food early in the morning. The kitchen was great—stove/oven, microwave, full size-but small-ish—refrigerator, dishwasher and all items needed for people flying into MT who don’t want to bring things with them or stop at a store to stock up (paper towels, dishwashing soap, dishes, cookware, even ziplock bags, an ice pack in the freezer, garbage bags, etc…). We slept in the downstairs bedroom (very comfortable, no closets but had a dresser—we actually kept our suitcases upstairs in the loft and spread our clothes out here), there was also a fan in the bedroom and some hooks on the wall to hang clothes. I noticed that there were a couple/few board games and some children’s books int he cabin. The upstairs bedroom had a floor A/C unit/fan that we did use. It was unusually warm while we were there and we’d turn it on, along with the ceiling fan to completely cool the cabin quickly. The bathroom was very spacious, many towels, the vanity had a hair dryer. Many extra rolls of TP and a hanging body soap/shampoo/conditioner dispenser.
Bunny and Larry also kept the main house/inn very nice. It was spacious. We commonly were the first/only people there to eat breakfast (getting there AT 6:00). The food was DELICIOUS—pancakes or waffles, ham or sausage, always scrambled eggs, homemade huckleberry syrup, HB eggs, watermelon, various muffins, one day there were breakfast burritos, biscuits and gravy, I did notice that one morning a family that stayed with little boys had bear shaped pancakes.
Larry/Bunny let us borrow the bear spray—we kept it the entire stay and didn’t return it until our last evening. That night we actually took the time to sit on the deck of the inn rather than our cabin. We walked downstairs where we were told a pool table was. It was very comfortable in lower level—all carpeted with the pool table, plenty of seating, books, pictures, and two of the bedrooms. Larry actually came downstairs and showed us one of the rooms (that wasn’t occupied that day). It was SOO nice. I would have loved to stay here. It was a very large room, had the fireplace and large bathroom. He also showed us some of the furniture that he made. Bunny also made many of the quilts.
We also took our last day to walk the grounds—we saw that there is a picnic table, a firepit, etc…. Larry and Bunny have a beautiful home and have learned to share it with others. We are lucky to get reservations and even luckier to stay for 4 nights. I don’t think we’ll be back to MT again (too many other national parks and states to see) but I would 100% stay here again and 100% recommend The Great Bear Inn to others.

July getaway to Glacier
We recently stayed 3 nights here and so enjoyed ourselves. Bunny and Larry were very hospitable and welcoming. The homemade breakfast was delicious and the room vey comfortable. We enjoyed relaxing on the deck and watching the hummingbirds feed. We definitely recommend this Inn and hope to someday return when we’re in the area. Great location to West Glacier NP.

A GEM in West Glacier
We had 3 wonderful nights at the Great Bear Inn. The rooms were clean, the beds were comfortable, the bathroom was beautiful. The breakfasts were freshly made, warm and lovely (eggs, sausage or ham, toast, cereal, pancakes, french toast, biscuits and gravy, a homemade muffin of some sort, cut up fresh fruit, coffee, OJ...not all of these were made each morning but most were.). The wifi was good and after a fun day of hiking in Glacier National Park, my kids and I enjoyed the porches and living areas to read or watch videos on our computers. It was a lovely location away from the highway in the woods and it felt like a nice retreat away from all of the people. But it was also very close to the West entrance of GNP...just 10 minutes maybe.

Great stay at Great Bear Inn!
We visited the Great Bear Inn after July 4 during our visit to Glacier National Park. We had a great stay at the inn. The inn is beautiful and nicely decorated, and it had some good amenities such as a pool table and checkers. The outdoor porch was a relaxing place to enjoy a Montana sunset. The best part of the inn was the hospitality of Bunny and Larry. They were accommodating and gracious hosts with the best spread of breakfast. Breakfast was served from 6am to 10am and they provided us with a to-go breakfast when we wanted to start the day early for the Highline Trail! We were also able to do laundry at night for free.
The inn is in a great location - about 10 min from West Glacier, 15 min from Coram, and 30 min from Kalispell airport. Highly recommend if you are visiting the west side of Glacier National Park! Book early!
We stayed in a room with 2 queen beds but they also have 2 cabins for more privacy. There were both couples and families at the inn when we stayed.
