Beautiful location and helpful staff!
We loved our stay here. I did feel it was rather pricey especially because many hotels are still using Covid as an excuse not to have daily cleaning but otherwise the location was amazing and the staff incredible!! They were so kind and helpful and gave us lots of ideas for hiking in Whitefish as well as ways to get into Glacier with the frustrating inability to acquire vehicle passes. They spent a lot of time with us helping us navigate it all. They also let us borrow bear spray so we didn't need to buy some. The morning breakfast was also set up early which was nice since we had to leave so early to drive to East side of Glacier National Park. The kitchenette was great after a long day of hiking. It was nice not to have to dress up and go into town to eat. We threw some food together and then sat outside in one of their beautiful sitting areas. The room was large and comfortable. Truly the only negative was the priciness but it seemed rather standard for the area.

2nd stay at this cozy mountain lodge
This was our 2nd stay at Kandahar Lodge. It’s cozy, welcoming atmosphere; friendly staff who want to be sure guests are happy; ski-in and out (shuttle also available to the main lift) brought us back. Eleven years later this stay met our expectations. Love the casual vibe and gathering space with wood burning fireplace at the end of a ski day. Continental breakfast is European style so good protein (and fruit and oatmeal) as well) to fuel the day. And if can’t spring for an exquisite meal at Cafe Kandahar (you must if you are able), the Snug Bar serves dishes prepared by the Cafe. Beds are firm and comfortable. Rooms very quiet and clean. Free snow bus takes you to town and back if you aren’t renting a car.

Very Friendly, Needs Updating, Good Restaurant, Limited Transportation
The staff is very friendly and helpful.
This is a true ski lodge. Great location for skiing. I stayed here only because of availability. Although, the free SNOW bus runs from Whitefish to this lodge during the day, it is not easy to get to and fro. Uber and Lyft were not an option, and the hotel does not offer a shuttle to whitefish or the airport.
The restaurant is well-known and very good. Expect to pay $65 per person for a 4+ course meal not including your drinks. The Snug Bar is just that,... Very snug. It's a 14' X 7' room with a bar and 2 high-top tables. The food is good from Snug bar and you can eat in the lobby. Set your expectations low for the complimentary breakfast. It's all take-out pre-packaged snacks, pastries, fruit, yogurt, cereal, coffee, OJ, milk. Not sure if this is temporary.
There aren't many other meal options on the top of Big Mountain.

This place was great. Staff was super helpful and friendly. Giant hot tub which was nice to relax in. While this isn't a lodge in Glacier Park, it is doable to drive to the west entrance from here. We were here in the summer so we liked the location to town and summer activities on the mountain. Free continental breakfast which was great.

Nice time here in Whitefish
My family and I had a great time here at Kandahar Lodge. The drive leading up the mountain was breathtaking and once we arrived, the atmosphere and staff were nothing but inviting. The hotel is very cozy and definitely gives you the quaint lodge feel. The food and Huckleberry lemonades were great.
If I were asked to be one hundred percent transparent I would agree with another reviewer in saying that for people with mobility challenges, this could be a difficult hotel to reside at. There are only a few parking spots directly next to the lodge, and the remainder of the parking area is down a small hill across the street. Also, there are no elevators which means you will be carrying all your luggage up and down multiple flights of steps. Our room had a loft with two queen beds, in which the stairs leading up to it were extremely narrow. I'm a large guy and had to turn somewhat sideways to go up and down.
We had a great time and I think we would stay here again. The staff was friendly and accommodating. We might just pack a little less.
