Terrible experience

We checked in for a 5 night stay. We stayed for 20 minutes. Our room was dark and dirty, the bathroom counter was barely bigger than the sink, which was very unusable for a long stay. The entire hotel had a musty smell. In our assigned room, the AC would not blow cool air even when set to 65. We quickly found a room in a next door hotel that was 100x better. Many from our group stayed in this hotel, so we visited the lobby often. The public restrooms had no AC. An employee told me that new management was terrible and work order requests were not resolved at all. The elevator broke half way through the week. Our friends had several issues including backed up sinks, bugs in the room and floors that were sticky and dirty. 0/5 stars. So glad we were able to get out of there.

Needs more lighting in rooms & hallways. Terrible ventilation in pool area. Definitely needs new mattresses - huge divot in the middle of the beds. But the worst was front desk staff who failed to deliver flowers sent for Mother's Day. When I went to the desk and asked about them the clerk said they did not know who to give them too - my full name was on both the flowers and the room reservation. Unacceptable.

This property has a lot going for it, but it is very noisy. Right after I checked in and was heading to my room, I could hear children running up and down the hallway above me. Later, in my room, I could hear every step taken by the people above me. I also could hear people talking in the next room as well as out in the hallway. This property could have been wonderful if Holiday Inn had invested a few more dollars in soundproofing the rooms. It’s well located — close to downtown Cortez and convenient to Mesa Verde national Park. The property is well maintained and well laid out. However, based on the noise, I will look elsewhere next time I visit Cortez.

Rude front desk staff.

Terrible customer service. We booked through a 3rd party, and were told the hotel 100% has the option to issue a refund as an exception, but they refused even though we had driven all the way there to talk to them in person after trying to call them 5 times and no one answering. The ladies at the desk were super dismissive, one of the even holding her hand up to “shush” me. Really disappointed. We’ve stayed there before and may have again as this is a trip we make often, but now— no way! It’s sad that people can’t change plans nowadays— life is short.

Reeks of Mildew

I'm very sensitive to mold. As soon as the lobby doors open I was hit with a strong mildew smell which permeated the lobby. Even my husband who normally doesn't notice mildew could smell it. Do not stay here if you are sensitive to mold. This hotel reeked of mildew more than any hotel I've ever been in. We walked across the street and stayed elsewhere.
