Beds had down comforters and were very comfortable. Was close to Lamar Valley so you could sleep later and not have to drive a long way to see bison, wolves, or other wildlife. Great hiking trails everywhere.

Snake infestation

Published Date: Sep, 8, 2023 Travel Date: Sep, 1, 2023 Rating: 2 Cabin and location was as described. We stayed in cabin #5. As we started up the stairs to the cabin, we observed approximately 15 snakes at the bottom of the stairs and in a crack in the cabin porch. When reported to staff, their response was “cool”. Nothing is cool about a snake infestation regardless of type. The snakes were sticking their heads up between the cracks on the floor of the porch. Was told they couldn’t do anything about them and they didn’t offer to move us. I expected more for $308 a night! They did nothing about the snakes, offered no apology, discount, move, or reimbursement. Would have stayed somewhere else had there been other options that evening

Silver Gate getaway

Great staff, wonderful community, wonderful vibe.
We’d stay here longer, avail ourselves of the local guides, run back into Yellowstone for experiencing the Lamar valley. This is so close, Best place to stay for that purpose.
Rustic yes, but that’s what you’re there for. We’ll go elsewhere for really nice accommodations, but not in this neck of the woods. Go here to get away and find some really nice people.

Lovely place to stay

Our cabin was cozy and had what we needed to prepare most of our own meals. NOTE: bring your own food; selection in Silver Gate & Cooke City is VERY limited and VERY expensive. There was no microwave so bear that in mind. Unfortunately the weather was rainy and so we did not get to enjoy the evening music at the general store; next time for sure. But we enjoyed our stay despite the weather and would definitely stay at the cabins again. It was worth every penny we spent! PS -- be sure to take home a goat!

Best Night of Sleep

We stayed in the school house cabin. The weather was perfect. We slept with the windows open with the cool mountain air. The mattress and bed linens I wanted to take with me! We spent ten days traveling Montana and this was the BEST mattress. We stayed in places costing $750 a night but Silvergate was our favorite. We actually enjoyed no TV and no Internet. We did not utilize the kitchen. Our only complaint is the very tiny shower. We would love to go back but would inquire if they have a cabin with a larger shower. Love the location to Lamar Valley and Bear Tooth Highway.
