Great Stay, Missing Details

This was our first day at Sawtelle Mountain resort. It will not be our last, we will certainly be back! While we were generally impressed with the resort, and the room was very clean and comfortable, there are some missing details that would greatly improve the experience. The room is clean, with plenty of space to move and unpack. All of the usual items you would expect any room were well stocked. The hotel area, where we stayed, was generally quiet and private between rooms. Unfortunately, our window faced the parking lot. The “blind“ did not do much for blocking the lights from the parking area. While I am grateful for the nice bright light around our cars, for safety, it left our room far too bright to sleep comfortably. A few, comical, quirky details. For instance, the dressing mirror in the hallway was directly across the bathroom door with the toilet in full view. Leave the bathroom door open, and you can wave to yourself in full glory. While the main office/lobby area is decorated appropriately for the area, and generally very nice, their convenience store could use some more typical overnight items to offer. We were a bit surprised with how little they offered in personal toiletries, especially with a nice RV park as part of the resort. Overall, a great place to stay. Not only do we intend to RV there, if occasion presents itself again to use the hotel, we certainly will not hesitate.

It hard finding a room that comfortably sleeps a family of 5 and two of which are teenagers. Decided to book the family suite so everyone could relax after a 14 hr drive and a few hours at Yellowstone I knew we’d all need a good nights sleep. I was a bit nervous about being to far from Yellowstone and remote out but it was worth it. The beds were great, the rooms were big and it had everything you could ask for. We loved our stay. The private hot tub was fun to enjoy. The only con is that that room was a little cooler than we’d like and couldn’t seem to get it to heat up. I was also nervous about finding food close, it is a pretty remote location but we went to Ponds and they had great food and a wonderful atmosphere.

Careful of cancellation policy

I scheduled lodging on Monday and was notified of a personal schedule change the next day. I called and cancelled. I was told a manager would contact me to discuss the cancellation charge of $103. Never happened. Please understand the cancellation policy before booking. There were rooms available when I booked, there were rooms available in the 24 hours that I had a reservation and there were rooms available after I cancelled. So, don't be misled by the comments on the website about being a small business and etc... This is plain and simple greed.

Room was Nice, But Service Sucked

I checked in and the front desk people had no personality or customer service skills. We stayed in the hotel and as soon as we got in our room. We noticed that the bathroom sink faucet had toothpaste spit all over it from the last guest. The room was very nice, coffee maker, microwave, and a mini refrigerator. The beds were very comfortable. They offered a brown bag breakfast but not until 7AM. Most guests had already left. This must be a way to save money or they are to lazy to hand them out early. A good staff would have got hotel a 5 star rating. I was torn between a 2 and a 3. Service matters!
