AVOID Under Canvas Glacier

It is not conducive for sleeping outdoors. The noise from the train horn blaring multiple times day and night is jarring. It doesn't only wake you from a sound sleep, it's so loud it stops conversation. Under Canvas provides earplugs next to the bed, and to be honest when we checked in I wondered why (no mention of the train during check-in). We did not sleep at all that first night. Used the earplugs the second and third. They helped, but did not eliminate the train horn, they eliminated the ambient sounds of nature. Isn't that a benefit of camping in the great outdoors?
At over $500 a night you would expect a higher level of service. When we arrived late the first night, the screen zipper did not work. The next morning we noticed the toiletries in the shower were empty. We stopped in the 'office' and notified them of the zipper and toiletries. In reply they said they would fix the zipper, and asked if we wanted a "refresh". We said yes (reflecting on the price point we assumed there would be some sort of room maintenance during a multiple night stay). Zipper was fixed and towels were put in our room. That was the "refresh". Toiletries were never filled, bed not made or changed, and trash was not emptied. The towels provided were threadbare, non-absorbent and scratchy. The bed linens were cheap roadside motel quality. At departure, we went to the office to check out, 5 employees were standing around the front desk. We told them we were checking out and shared the toiletries were still empty so they wouldn't be missed again during the turn. No apology. No thank you for staying. On our way out we visited the coffee station. 8am and both coffee urns were empty. 5 employees standing 5 feet away, doing nothing. Our final moments Under Canvas were indicative of our entire stay. Glacier is a beautiful destination. There are many charming lodging options. Go elsewhere. Under Canvas Glacier misses the mark.

Close to Glacier but I prefer a hotel!

Had to keep the fire going to stay warm. So feeding fires all night long isn’t great for sleep
Other issue:right by freight trains tracks that blow horns multiple times at night and near freeway. They did give us earplugs. The staff were wonderful and the grounds very nice. Using lanterns and showering with one hand as the other pulls the chain just isn’t for me. Glad we did it but won’t repeat! Close to Glacier and Josephine’s (terrific restaurant)

Published Date: Aug, 13, 2025 Travel Date: Aug, 1, 2025 Rating: 5 We are two 78 year olds who thoroughly enjoyed our experience at Under Canvas Glacier. Glamping was on my husband's bucket list and we couldn't have picked a better place for our first experience. The staff was amazing. The tents were comfortable, if rustic which is what we looked forward to. The location was perfect.. very close to the park and other attractions nearby. West Glacier village had a number of good restaurants, one being Belton Chalet. The Embers Cafe on site had a very limited menu, but everything was delicious. Special shout out to Hannah and Scott.. we enjoyed interacting with them.

Worst experience ever !!!

Published Date: Sep, 19, 2024 Travel Date: Sep, 1, 2024 Rating: 3 I did not hate it, but It was not great either - like a good idea which was not well implemented. This was meant to be a luxurious "safari tent" -like experience and it was priced as such, but the accommodations were uncomfortable and making guests comfortable is what luxury stays are all about.
The property has failed to provide good quality sleep - it was very noisy at night with the train horn waking us up every few hours ( I slept with noice cancelling headphones on) and there was super loud highway as well. they placed earplugs in the room, but that was useless
Also there were very stiff, uncomfortable and cheap pillows. For the price we have payed you would expect a luxurious bedding and those pillows were unacceptable. The furniture, while very aesthetically pleasing, was not comfortable to seat on.
Other less important things- there is one hairdryer for the whole camp which we were supposed to use and then bring back to the lobby tent - is a very cheap hairdryer. This was very inconvenient
The community fireplaces - not convenient at all. We had to go up or down the road to get there and most nights the seats around them were taken. There should be opportunity to have personal small fires by the tents. It would have been so nice to relax after running/ hiking all day by the fire and watch those beautiful stars and then go to bed.
The food was not bad, but the restaurant ambiance- it felt like an afterthought.
The location was convenient for the West Glacier visit.
The interior of the tent was very pretty and the camp area was overall nice. The bathroom facilities were always clean, and even though the nights were cold, the blankets were warm and the fireplace in the room was great to have.
There were plenty of clean high quality towels. The tea and coffee in the lobby were also high quality and great to have.
I was recognized as Hyatt globalist and given a credit to use during my stay.
So, in conclusion I liked how the place looked, but it wads not comfortable. I will definitely try other locations of Under Canvas as they there is a potential and hopefully they are better. However, there is a better clamping experience around.
