Two couples staying two nights in adjoining suites. I was concerned at first as we were driving & seemed a long way & remote from Moab. However, this was the most awesome working ranch to stay on the Colorado river among the red cliffs! Our rooms faced the creek & we were able to sit on the back porch of our suite in the afternoon having a cocktail, watching the horses as they were let out to pasture! The on-site restaurant was wonderful. We had planned to drive into Moab but realized we did not need to do that with this excellent restaurant onsite. The view at dinner was incredible. They also had a lunch to go at 6:30 a.m. given we wanted to get to the Arches to see the sunrise & miss the long line to enter the park. Overall an A+ experience.

I originally booked Sorrel River Ranch back in February but after doing more research and reading some pretty bad reviews cancelled my reservation and booked with Red Cliffs Lodge. I am so glad I did. It was a get away for my birthday week with my two best friends. We had a two bedroom cabin right on the river. The cabin was spacious. The bedrooms were roomy with tons of storage. The couched pulled out to a bed. We had a kitchen and dining area, fire place. It was fantastic! We sat on the large deck every morning drinking our coffee watching the sun rise over the mesas and looking at the river and had wine at night looking at the stars. While we were there we did a horseback riding tour. Sarah was our guide and she was exceptional. The views were breathtaking. We ended our ride through a creek. We used the hot tub and took in more amazing views. Everyone was pretty nice. The front desk staff didn't wear masks but I'm not sure what the covid rules are in Utah. We had three dinners at the Cowboy Grille. There was a good selection (I'm vegetarian and my two friends eat meat). The wait staff were fantastic. The views from the deck of the restaurant were magical. I highly recommend Red Cliff Lodge. I will be back! We stayed the first week in October.

Hidden Gem on Property - Lunch at the River Deck

We liked it so much we went twice in one week. About 25 min from downtown Moab, this great property also houses the Cowboy Grille and Bronco Adventure. The less talked about gem is Lunch on the River Deck. This is a separate restaurant that serves lunch on a covered deck overlooking the Colorado river. Food is cooked to order on the walk up grill (burgers, veggie burgers, hot dogs, chicken, and pizza make up the main menu) plus a great salad bar with regular, bean, and potato salads. Also a variety of chips, drinks, and big chocolate chunk cookies. Eat on the deck under the roof or outside at picnic tables. Buffet style. We paid $12 per person and it is all you can eat. Best value in Moab and great atmosphere.

Where to begin. This may be a long review. We arrived and were greeted most warmly by lovely Sierra. We also were graciously taken care of, later in the day, by Morgan. Yaakov and Ronnie wonderfully took care of us for our respective dinners at the lodge. The hostess, Joelle?, and host the next night effused warmth. Kudos to the owner. Top down caring shines through with your staff. When you drive on to the property, our first thought was “cool.” The lobby, gift shop, museum, bar and restaurant are a sight to see. We had a river view room, which was very nice. Envelope left for housekeeping, but, with COVID, there was no daily housekeeping. Nice little kitchenette in the room. Sweet patio for river view relaxing. Very spacious and comfortable room. We got to take a trail ride, which is available on site. The crew at the stable are all fantastic. Thank you, Lexie and Big Red. There is also a pool, hot tub, and laundry facilities. The restaurant is great. Food was stupendous. (Prime Rib a must) Incredible view. Only complaint was breakfast and lunch options are limited to all you can eat buffets. No a la carte options. Also, the guy taking orders at lunch was pretty cranky at every step of the process. Unless he was just having a bad day, he needs to be in a job where he doesn’t interact with people. The gentlemen in charge of the food set up and cooking were both much more pleasant. And the “piece de resistance?” I left something behind, and they are mailing it back to me. Thank you, Red Cliffs Lodge, for a stupendous three day stay.

We stayed two nights at Red Cliffs as part of a trip out west and a special birthday celebration. For the cost, we felt that it was a disappointment and found the front desk staff to be unaccommodating. The two rooms that we booked with friends were fairly shabby and in need of updating…old furniture and bedding and the bathroom was well past its prime. The quality was not in line with a $300 plus per night experience. Our small group had a reservation for dinner at the lodge restaurant for the first night but were told that there were no reservations available for our second night. The front desk did say that we could come to the restaurant and “hope” to be seated. Not the kind of expected treatment for a rather expensive hotel, especially given that it is in a somewhat remote area without other restaurants close by. Additionally, we noticed a number of larger groups such as bus tours that were given special accommodations. We won’t be back and could not recommend this hotel unless you stay there only because of the red rock setting, which is beautiful.
