My husband, 5 yr old son and I ATTEMPTED to stay at Wander Camp Grand Canyon, October 18th 2024. I waited to write this review to collect my thoughts because we had a REALLY terrible experience. We flew in Minnesota to visit Zion and Grand Canyon. We camp every fall, and thought a change of scenery would be nice. The previous three nights we stayed at a different Glamping resort. We had a great experience! We were warm in spite of the freezing temps with a large propane heater that came INCLUDED with the stay, had a place to cook, eat, sleep, use the restroom. To be expected right? We arrive at Wander Camp... let me paint you a picture. It's getting dark, sloppy wet snow is making it very difficult for your rental car to traverse the narrow barely maintained dirt road. You arrive to see a shoddy little trailer manned by someone who wishes they were somewhere else. You ask for the heater you paid extra for and also reserved a week in advance to make sure you had it. You get handed a tiny heater with enough propane to last hopefully 4 hours on low. You ask if you will get another propane tank for the next night. The guy shrugs and says "Maybe." We move on to the tent to make dinner. You are not allowed to bring food into the tent because of animals. But you are not provided a picnic table to cook or eat on. The only place to cook is 300 yards away from our site and there is no shelter. Just a couple tables in the middle of the nowhere. I'm supposed to cook and eat with my 5 yr old out in the freezing sleet?! And that food truck that is advertised on the website? Don't count on it friends!! It wasn't there. We manage to eat, and it's getting dark. Oh, yeah I was supposed to be provided a lantern. Not there. I walk back to the host who is hiding in their car with a Scream Mask hanging on the passenger seat (My son did NOT like that, vey unprofessional and uninviting!!) I ask about our lantern. He says "Sorry they are solar powered and it was cloudy today." Ummm. Yeah but I paid for a lantern, don't you prepare for this stuff? I walk away feeling like this place was a huge mistake. We decide to crawl into bed at 6pm because we are freezing. Yes, we have our base layers on, sweatpants, jackets, hats, and mittens because that heater is doing NOTHING to warm our tent. My husband and I are looking at each other like "Do we try to tough out the night?" Well, God helped us answer that question because at 9pm the tent RIPS OPEN and collapses on top of us. OUR TENT RIPED OPEN ON TOP OF US. My son is screaming uncontrollably and I just start laughing. It literally couldn't be worse. I was relieved. We were going to get the hell out of there and get our money back. We get our son packed up in the warm car. My husband and I dig our belongings out of the tent and we drive up to the host. I say "Our tent collapsed on top of us." He says "Let me get you another one." I say "No, we are leaving, we want a refund." He calls his manager and she texts me an apology and says we will get refunded our stay with them and our hotel stay refunded. Mind you, it is now 9:30pm on a Friday night. Finding a hotel was very difficult. We eventually found a Best Western in Bellmont (Don't stay there! Way too expensive for what you get.) But we still haven't been refunded our hotel stay. We have been asking and asking. They just stopped responding. Seriously the worse hospitality experience I have ever had. Only come here if you need nothing but a tent and a bed. Even so, you are paying too much if that is all you need.

This place was amazing! We took a large group and occupied 12 tents. They were great in helping us get settled and easy to communicate with. I wish they would have provided towels (even as an option- we brought our own). The stars were amazing and we all agreed that the beds were SOOO comfortable!

I feel that this space is cute and an option If you have never camped before and want the experience, but for seasoned campers it doesn’t quite hit the mark - here’s why: the facilities just aren’t adequate in terms of bathroom amenities. As others have mentioned - more toilets separate from the shower stalls is necessary. Even pit toilets or portapotties …maybe propane burning toilets? I’m curious - wondering if there is some reason why they don’t have more or other options? Some legislation limiting the type or #? Only 4 toilets for 50ish sites doesn’t seem adequate and often people were having to wait as others did their business or worse yet had a shower. And for the price point per night I think it is fair to export more. It’s a bit far from the park so people were up and going as early as 4am to hike so again if this is your goal it might be suitable. Our party wasn’t in a rush to get out in the am so the car doors and vehicles driving by interrupted our sleep a bit in the morning. The tents are also closer together than we had expected so you can hear people talking. The little canteen wasn’t open when we stayed and we were told it is now closed for the season. Wasn’t a big deal but I was curious as I’d read the food was decent. In our experience the beds were not as comfortable as we had read in other reviews. The queen bed we had consisted of two single frames so made a lot of noise when one rolled over or shifted in the night. It also sagged in the centre. The tents are nice and spacious and decor is cute. I was surprised with how clean the linens were. The dark night skies would have been the highlight but I think I’d stay in a hotel (with private bathroom and other amenities) closer to the Canyon and just venture in to an area to stargaze.

2 and 1/2 miles down a bumpy dirt road

2 and 1/2 miles down a bumpy dirt road . The linens were clean but the floor was not. There were dirty footprints from the previous occupants. We woke up to big red ants in our tent. The shared showers were filthy and the floor in the entire bathroom was wet and dirty. I’m unsure if it ever got cleaned. The cook for the food truck couldn’t come to work so there was no food for the duration of our stay. Overall, I’m being generous by giving it three stars.
