Don't Trust the "Best Price Guarantee"

Room was decent, but price was high compared to similar hotel next door. Looked forward to eggs for breakfast, but they were reconstituted and cold (uneatable). Front desk staff was uninformed about company policies. I was most disappointed with the Holiday Inn Best Price Guarantee. I found the room through kayak and was going to book, but called the hotel direct to see if they would match the lower online price. Got the corporate CS agent who inferred that there would be no problem with the match. I reserved the room with the agent. Later I got an email saying the price match was disallowed, and said the price wasn't offered to the general public. Not true. I went all the way to the payment screen to view the final price, using the 3rd party booking service. On principle, I tried to cancel the reservation (on the same day I received the response about the price match denial), I found out the deadline to cancel had past and I was on the hook for the full, inflated amount. Bottom line, next time I'm going to book with the 3rd party service if I find a good deal. I don't trust IHG corporate to honor their price match pledge. And I will also no longer support this brand.

This would be 0 stars if I could. We left this morning and I’m still so upset that we spent money here. Our room was absolutely disgusting! There was no place else to go or we would have checked out. The room was just do yucky I didn’t have the family take their shoes off unless jumping into bed. We didn’t take a shower for 2 nights but the shower was not clean. When we were finally leaving we were doing one last check to make sure we had gotten all of our things and found someone else’s dirty underwear. I can’t even believe we stayed here. I can’t even believe we are out $600. Avoid this place!

Great stay & great location!!

When I began looking for a place to stay for our Grand Canyon visit, I was first drawn to the town of Williams. They offer a railway system that will take you to/from the Grand Canyon. I also came across this Holiday Inn Express in Tusayan. After reading MANY reviews about these two hotels and several others, I knew these were my top two contenders. Although a train ride peaked my interest; I felt being 7 miles from the south rim gate suited us better...so that we could be on our own schedule. Did we pay more for that extra convenience: yep - it's more expensive than your average hotel cost. Was it worth the extra money: absolutely!! I have no regrets spending that extra bit to have freedom to come and go as we pleased; and, to be minutes away from our destination. Check-in: As smooth as could be. The lovely young lady at the front desk took care of us as soon as we walked in; then, we were off to our room a few minutes later. She gave us a sheet that had tons of info about the hotel and the area; and gave us a brief overview. Definitely a great welcome!!!! The room: Loved it!! After two full days in Vegas, the king size bed was like sleeping on a cloud. We were finally able to catch up on the rest we needed. I booked the room in the "adults" section since we don't have any children. It was a peaceful stay. The only noises we heard were the opening/closing of doors and our neighbors using their showers - all the normal sounds of a hotel. Breakfast: One of the best breakfasts we've had at a hotel. We very much enjoyed the variety and freshness of everything. The scrambled eggs were really good (not your typical heat and re-heat eggs). We also had sausage links, oatmeal, blueberry muffins and cinnamon rolls. The coffee was really good; and their was an assortment of juices and cartons of white milk. Again, with being in the adults only section, it was quite peaceful. Check-out: Even more of a breeze than check-in. My advice: if you can spend the extra on this hotel....do it....especially if you're going to the Grand Canyon.

Overall a good place

Nice receptionist, easy check-in. Good-sized clean room, except not room for a decent easy chair--only a tiny uncomfortable padded chair. Bathroom mirror was attractive, but almost useless because only had dim perimeter lighting. Bathroom had soap/shampoo dispensers instead of those tiny soap bars. Squeaky bathroom door was a problem at night. Breakfast was great--one of the best in our motel travels. Great variety of tasty food items. Many friendly, helpful servers. Desk people gave very useful advice about when to go into the Canyon. Quite expensive, as are all of the places near the Canyon.

Got a room here via Priceline and were very pleased. Would stay here again. POSITIVES: VERY friendly desk & breakfast attendants; excellent water pressure; divider wall to separate vanity (which was separate from the bathroom) & main room; variety of food options & serving stations; ample seating for dining; good location NEGATIVES: room was a little tight; water temperature seemed like it could get dangerously hot
