Needs more bathrooms

This place is OK, but they have a serious bathroom problem. They only have three bathroom facilities to begin with - two of which have showers. When we arrived both the office and pool bathroom locations had toilets out of order in the women's and men's rooms. That situation got much worse as the next day several more men's toilets were out of order. There were only 6 showers total in the whole place for women, and 6 for men (I think). This place can easily have 300+ people staying in it at a time - it is huge. I realize they probably assume that the people in campers are showering and using the toilets in their campers, but I don't think this is always the case. My (male) partner and I both ended up walking quite far, or waiting in lines for showers and toilet stalls. When I mentioned this to one of the front desk staff, she indicated that the toilets had been "vandalized" and the owner was out buying new toilets. When I asked what happened, she said she didn't know. I don't know if I buy the story. That said, our tent site was in a lovely location by the river. We found the pool and dishwashing facilities to be adequate, though do note that the children's splash pad was out of order when we were there (don't know why). We enjoyed being able to order a pizza to our campsite - quite a novelty! It is a great location overall in St. Mary, very close to the entrance to the GTTSR, which is perhaps why they can get away with so few bathrooms - there aren't many other options so people will continue staying there and paying the high cost regardless.

We stayed here 3 nights in early July while exploring Glacier National Park. We appreciated the location of the scenic campground, the store, ice cream and coffee, and the walking nature trails. Being brought in and shown our site we were disappointed, it was pretty muddy. We had a rooftop tent on our vehicle so at least we weren’t right on the ground, but looking around there were plenty of not filled sites that were grassy and much nicer. Seems when staying three nights this could have been considered. Having a restroom nearer to our campsite other than having to walk to the main building was nice, but it was loud, busy and not real clean with all the pool activity in and out, so we made the walk most of the time anyhow. When we checked in we were shown trash areas but the two circled as closest to our spot were not even there so again we walked to the main building each evening to dispose of our trash… not terribly convenient. Having the horseshoes and corn hole was nice, and having a pool also nice, but hours were not kept as posted and it got loud at night and always appeared to be over capacity, especially the hot tub. Great facilities and wonderful amenities in the laundry, store, playground, WiFi but service was off and on unless we were near the main building and had to be completely signed into each time we were bumped off.

Excellent

It’s a clean friendly campsite with decent sized pitches and an excellent pool it does get busy and I did think it was a little pricey but you do get a lot for your money. They have a well stocked we camp shop and pool opening hours are good is def stay again

St. Mary/East Glacier KOA - excellent for longer stays, expensive for short ones

This was our second stop en route to Yellowstone National Park. We went this way so that we could see Glacier National Park and do the "Going to the Sun Road", but quickly learnt that you need reservations for that... so we'll have to tackle that next time. We have always wanted to try a KOA. Our first choice was West Glacier, but they were sold out, so we went with St. Mary. It was excellent, but I'm just not sure it's worth the price if you're just a bunch of adults who are passing through for one night. If you're going to be there a few days, absolutely. If you have kids and want them to feel entertained, this is worth it. Great amenities like laundry, playgrounds, a pool, an excellent store that has everything, awesome staff that drive you to your site, views for days. I just think that for us, making a one night stop here, it was too expensive at almost $140USD (and we are Canadian, so that's not a favourable conversion). Can't say enough good things about the place, it is kept up beautifully and we went for several walks taking in the scenery and felt completely safe. Excellent coffee for the drive in the morning in their shop, and great souvenirs, including free beer koozies at the front desk. Wifi was not terrible, either! Thanks for a great stay, hope to make it a longer one next time!

The location was the only thing good about this KOA. Loved how quick it was to get into the park! There was a dead animal decomposing under our porch which reeked and they didn’t do anything about it. (Said they didn’t know what to do!) There are only about 9 toilets/showers (about 6 gendered, 3 neutral) for hundreds of people. We had to wait every morning and every night to use the toilet and shower. There were so many people and cabins were packed together. We heard when all neighbors came and went (especially the Harleys!) These very small, rustic cabins were way over priced for what they are. I would not recommend them and won’t stay there again.
