Entrada Escalante Lodge- Don't Miss It!

Quiet, comfortable (very) and good value (very.) Toward the end of a 14 day road trip through the Southwest US, we arrived at Entrada Escalante Lodge after a tough day of hiking. The room (really a semi-attached cabin) was spacious, cool and stocked chockablock with amenities. Real coffee-(not the cheesy, crappy tea-bag style you get everywhere else,) very comfortable bed, great shower, real Art on the walls (not the crappy, cheesy stuff your eye gets so easily offended by at the corporate places,) and, best of all, free snacks! (But you should be respectful and just take one or two- not the whole jar. (Yes, I'm looking at you!)
The architecture and construction of the place feels contemporary, new and well-built. There is a backdoor in the room leading to the wild landscape surrounding. Magical to sit on the back porch at sunset. Entrada Escalante is right off the street and super convenient to get to when heading east or west on Utah HWY 12 after visiting the Escalante area.
Food is also convenient- The owners also operate Waffles and Wildflowers- a small bistro-style breakfast place owned and run by the hosts at the front of the lodge and 4th West Pub, across the street is a good bar and burger joint right across the street.
Finally, a laundry room with a free use washer and dryer on the premises- a fabulous perk near the end of a hot, dusty week hiking in the desert. Especially if you have a few days left in the trip and are running out of clean clothes.

They even provided us with a blanket for the dog and put his name by his water bowl. The hotel overlooks a beautiful vista and we enjoyed the peace and quiet of Escalante from our patio. It was exactly what we needed. We will definitely be back again due to phenomenal service, clean rooms, and exceptional amenities.

Outstanding Stay in Escalante

The managers seem to have thought of everything: from the easiest and most seamless check-in we have ever encountered, to a well stocked kitchen, to the biggest bathroom and shower ever. However, the best of all was the back patio. Other hotels do not offer this and we thought it would not be a big deal but it made our whole stay. Morning coffee while looking at the perfectly lit landscape to an evening meal looking again at the landscape but from the opposite lighting angle was beyond restful . . . and I should mention the peaceful quietness. All we heard was the nature. Loved it all!!

Umbrellas, slippers, eye masks, Q-tips, floss (with the little handles), towels just for makeup removal or cleaning dusty hiking boots, a jar of snacks etc etc. It was spotlessly clean and everything in the kitchenette was in order and functional, including high quality knives which is unheard of. Though it's a bit more expensive than the mostly junky motels in town, it was more than worth it to me. It would be the only place I'd choose if I came back to Escalante.

An unexpected jewel in Escalante.

It looked out over the mountain with chairs on the back patio to sit and admire the view. The bed and the shower were both excellent. We loved the pour over coffee with fresh grounds. The price was very reasonable.
