USPL Reviews Provided by
San Juan Inn
This review is solely for the cafe on the property--not for the hotel

We found it a very warm and welcoming little cafe that is a gathering place for many of the locals. The key feature is the bar--which had a few patrons at it. The restaurant portion is two rooms served by 2 waitresses, so the service is a little slow. To make up for it, they have some very nice beers on tap at very reasonable prices.
There is not a lot of parking available because the property is carved into a small mountain on a curve of the highway. There are tables that overlook the river and the bridge.
We were pleased with the food (the choices are a bit limited, but the taste is good) and the friendly crowd. Ambiance is nothing special. Remember, this is your only option!

Brooke, the comical cafe owner, cooks a great breakfast. Gabby is a wonderful young waitress. Her 80 year old grandmother cooks up beef stew & green chili smothered burrito!
This was truly a wonderful place to eat. Yummy.

We had a family heirloom piece of jewelry stolen from our room while we were out for the day. Now I find 8 fraudulent charges on my VISA card for the month following our stay.
Thanks for nothing!

We stayed 2 nights to view the ring of fire total eclipse and so the hotel was very full, we had a nice upstairs room overlooking the river and ate in the restaurant both nights.
To be honest the rooms were a little dated and could have down with a bit of refreshing but for what we paid we were happy enough.

No door lock!

My real issue was when I went to flip the deadbolt lock on the door it just kept spinning. I opened the door to inspect it; there was no bolt in the mechanism!! This isn’t likely a high crime area but I do prefer a motel room with a locking door.
