We had a room with double queen beds. a desk & chair, and a lounge chair. the room was spacious. we had a small refrigerator with a freezer section. the bathroom was also a good size. the staff was all very nice and helpful. There is very nice outdoor seating with Mountain Views outside and behind the pool area. I don’t enjoy indoor pools so we did not use this amenity. The exercise room is small but adequate. The view from the room is over the parking lot so not ideal. The room does not have a microwave so you do not have the option to bring dinner to heat & eat. If I return I would try a cottage as they looked very nice (from the outside) and there are some good reviews of them.

We arrived early on a Sunday. Couldn’t check us in if they wanted to because their system was down and an Engineer was on his way from Grand Junction! He would be arriving at 2pm so we should be able to check in at 3pm. We were eventually able to book in after 5pm. At no time were we kept updated, we had to go to reception and ask what was happening. The on-site restaurant wasn’t open at the weekends which we weren’t aware of. Thankfully the Twin Rocks Cafe was open at the other end of town, the only place open for food, and it was amazing, they saved the day. Apart from the disappointments the room was ok.

We stayed two nights at the Desert Rose. We arrived late the first night and our key was left for us! Easy checkin! The bed was very comfortable and the grounds are pretty. We didn’t use the pool but it looked very nice. We were there on a weekend and their restaurant wasn’t open so we didn’t get a chance to try it. ( twin rocks cafe down the road is amazing!)

We enjoyed everything about the Desert Rose and look forward to seeing the improvements they are making. They have a new indoor pool building with a beautiful lobby area. Further down the hill from the pool is a shaded area that appears to be for wedding receptions, and events. It has a beautiful view and was a favorite place to go in the morning. There was a construction area where we learned more cabins would be built. The rooms and exterior were rustic. We visited Duke's one night for dinner and were very impressed. It is beautifully decorated and the staff was great. Little things need to be updated such as the sink area of the bathroom. There was only one sink. It was worth the 45 minute drive to get to the hotel from Monument Valley. The only thing that was disappointing was that there was a large group of boys who occupied the pool and the only green spot under trees behind the hotel for most of the time we were there. They appeared to be a sports team of some kind with chaperones.

This hotel came highly recommended by another vendor; however, they apparently had not visited Desert Rose in quite a while. The public part of this facility seemed ok, nice pool, plenty of rooms, etc. However, this was more a motel than hotel. The rooms opened onto a long outside walkway on a porch. Several guests were sitting on the porch smoking. Our room had a really funky smell and the front desk clerk let me use some of their Lysol, but that did not help the stale, musty smell. The clerk apologized and said it was possible someone may have smoked in the room even though the rooms are labeled non-smoking. Restaurant appeared attractive but was closed due to staffing issues. Bluff is a very small town obviously struck hard by Covid with extremely limited meal options. The indoor pool was nice, but that's about it.
