Mixed Results: Hotel - Exellent! Yellowstone Snowmobile Guided Tour - Terrible!
We stayed three nights at the Best Western By Mammoth Hot Springs and our room was great....comfortable beds, heat worked and the staff at restaurant were wonderful for breakfast every morning!!! Additionally, we signed up through Best Western for a guided snowmobile tour with Yellowstone Year Round Safaris which we hoped would be an adventure of a lifetime, but turned into a terrifying disaster. We met with our guide, Pat who outfitted us with snowmobile clothing and gave us a 5-minute lesson on the operation of a snowmobile. I've operated wave runners so how hard could this be....right? To make a long story short, we were quickly left behind although there was only one other couple riding single snowmobiles in out group. We were on a double snowmobile and ended up crashing into a snowbank and penned under the machine. Pat eventually turned around and found us. Instead of asking if we were okay, we were told that we needed to go faster. After catching up to the couple ahead of us and told the trail was only going to get more difficult, we felt unsafe so decided to turn around. Pat led us back to the drop off point and left us with a couple of his workers. They were waiting for an unguided group to allow them to rent their snowmobiles. We waited for over an hour past the designated time until they showed up so we could be shuttled back to the Best Western. I emailed the owner of YYRS on 2/8/19 to tell him about our experience and requested a partial refund since we didn't receive the tour we were promised. To date, I haven't received any reply or acknowledgement from YYRS. My advice is don't take this tour unless you're proficient in operating a snowmobile and if there's any issues then don't expect a response from anyone at YYRS.

Was a little disappointed in our stay. We were with a group of 10. They put us in the back building. That made it not good to use the hot tub and pool bc we weren’t going to go out in 10 degree weather in order to get to our rooms. Just disappointed by that.

Vacation for my husband and I
Although it was a great location to the North Entrance of Yellowstone Park we wouldn’t recommend this hotel.
We asked for a pet free room and there were pets in rooms across the hall. Our bed had bugs in it and we got bug bites all over. This made it difficult to sleep. The room was really outdated and dirty. They didn’t change the sheets the entire time we were there and we asked for them to be changed a couple times since we were there for 5 days. The sheets were dirty and the bathtub was dirty also. Disgustingly dirty bathroom and room.
There were bugs in our room.
The bed post had dirty handprints on it. We told them about it and nothing was done.
The contential breakfast was cold and it was the same thing everyday. We were the first ones there when they opened ,so it should’ve been hot.
If you didn’t get back early there was no close by parking.
There was a nice view of a mountain range in the distance and of Yellowstone River. Besides that and the location those were the only nice things about the place.
They had an indoor pool that was gross.
The front desk staff were rude and unpleasant, especially when we asked for our room to be cleaned and our sheets to be changed at least one time while we stayed there.
We wouldn’t recommend this place to stay.

Average Hotel - Hit or Miss
I was at the hotel two nights, the first before I spent 2 days in the interior of Yellowstone, and the second the day I came out. I thought afterward that it almost seemed I had been to two different hotels. On the first night, the room was not very comfortable and the heater was ridiculously noisy. The breakfast was not good with dried scrambled eggs, overcooked (burnt) sausages and no juice available. The restaurant for dinner served tasty food but the chicken was very overdone. The second night I stayed, the room was comfortable and the heater was quiet. Breakfast was better and they did have juice. I chose to eat at a different restaurant as I didn't want to chance it. Definetely hit or miss.

For a Winter Excursion of a Lifetime in Yellowstone
If you’re looking for a nice place to stay, affordable and right in the small town of Gardiner, MT The Best Western will fit those needs! The best part??? My family and I booked an excursion through the hotel, renting snow mobiles to ride through Yellowstone National Park!!! An all day event! Great sleds, gear included, even a delicious lunch!!! Not only did we ride through the park for 8 hours stopping at all the hot spots (literally even the Geyser basin’s) but our guide, Pat, was AMAZING! Knowledgeable in all things Yellowstone! From the water to its canyon’s, to wildlife, building structure and the fires of 88’! Science, history, he was ontop of his game! I would buy this package again in a heartbeat! If you’re looking for a real treat, do yourself a favor and book this trip! The Best Western by Mammoth Hot Springs will not only bring you closer to Yellowstone, but to its heart!!!!
