I like reviews to be honest and give readers full perspective. This was a nice place to stay, we don't mind rustic. But it was very high priced for what you got. At this price point, I expected very nice linens and a great bed. Both of those were average. The fresh eggs, juice, bread, and jam were a wonderful (and much appreciated) touch, as the store is miles away. Know that you will drive several miles down a gravel road to get here. There was no shower (just tub) in our cabin which was a negative for us. It is a serene and beautiful setting, takes about an hour to get to the Mesa Verde tours (but about 10-15 min from the entrance).

We stayed at Willowtail Springs on our recent trip to the Durango area. It was the perfect location since we spent most of our time exploring Mesa Verde and it was less than 15 minutes to the entrance to the park, and about a 30 minute drive into Durango. We rented the bungalo which had a beautiful view of the lake ... we could hear the ducks from the bedroom. We enjoyed the breakfast items provided so we could have a good breakfast before heading out to the national park. We were able to walk around the property a bit one morning and it was so peaceful around the lake. The cabin itself was big, especially for 2 people. We were not expecting the sealed-off (and dormant) beehive in the bedroom sealing. So interesting ... and not a single bee in sight! :-) The hand-made soaps and shampoos in the bathroom were a nice touch, but it should be noted that there is only a tub (no shower) and that the bedroom and bathroom are connected without full walls between them, which limits full privacy when you are in the bathroom. We enjoyed our stay and wished we had had more time to take the canoes out on the lake. Thanks to Lee for recommending Mancos Brewing too! Great beers and decent menu for a brewery!

My husband and I chose the Lake House (even though it was a bit too spacious for the two of us) because it is the only cabin that has an actual deck. The other two cabins have patio areas that do not view towards the lake. Having our breakfasts and dinners on the deck overlooking the lake was absolute paradise. Having a grill right there at the bottom of the deck was so convenient. (Each cabin has its own grill). We also enjoyed the hot tub with it's great view of the lake. We had great luck with the fishing. It was fun to take the canoe out onto the lake. Due to the cattails surrounding the lake, the only spot to fish from is on the dock or in the canoe. This is a great place to go when you want to get away from it all.

We were very excited to stay here after reading wonderful reviews. We stayed in the lake house with another couple. A lot of character and plenty of space for the four of us. The view of the lake was beautiful and it was very peaceful and quiet. There are only a couple of things that were a bit disappointing. One was that it was hot and there is no air conditioning. That would not be a problem if there were ceiling fans in the bedrooms instead of rather small oscillating fans. The other was that we were under the impression that this was a bed and breakfast. We knew we would be cooking our own breakfast but for the price we paid we expected to get more than eggs, fruit and bread. And yes, there is yummy homemade jam but we had to call and request food for the second day. Having stayed in many bed and breakfast over the years we were expecting more variety and enough for four of us for each morning. Lee and Peggy were charming and everything was clean. Plenty of towels and everything thing you needed to cook with and then some was in the kitchen.....except for the breakfast food.

about 30 minutes from Durango. Secluded, quiet and able to relax! Great hosts! Warmly greeted and even provided farm fresh eggs, fruit, coffee, fresh bread, homemade jam, homegrown herbs in kitchen for use and some yummy eclairs! Only 3 cabins on property so very quiet. Large porch to sit on at night and stars are amazing with no city lights to interfere! If relaxation and peace is what you want, this is the place! The garden cottage doesn't sit right on the lake but I loved it because it was set more private.
