We stayed at Thunderbird Lodge for two nights and thoroughly enjoyed being adjacent to the Canyon de Chelley National Monument. The grounds of the lodge are quite peaceful and shady. The restaurant has good and reasonably priced food. We also enjoyed the ranger program in the evening. It's not luxury, but for the money and location - it's a great value and much more enjoyable than staying in a chain motel in town. The room was comfortable and clean and all we needed for a great visit to Canyon de Chelley.

Situated at the entry of the beautiful canyon de chelly. You are in a rural area so dont expect too much. Anyway my room was comfortable. The restaurant serve tipical navajo meal!! The hotel offer an interesting tour inside the canyon, the only way to visit the secret land . By car you can drive the South and North rim.. A must to see!!!

This place is way underpriced. We stayed in room 85 and it had everything you need for about $80 a night. Wifi worked well, TV had about 250 channels including about 7 HBO's. Good beds, porch to sit in front of your room with view of surrounding area and grassy landscaping. I highly recommend this place for your stay to see Canyon de Chelly.

My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights while exploring the National Monument. The lodge was perfect and it was so convenient to explore the north and south rim of the canyon. We did not eat in the restaurant so can not give you any information on this. If you are in the military there is a discount you can ask for. I would totally recommend this lodge and would stay here again.

Navajo-Owned and -Operated Motel in the Canyon de Chelly

We chose this lodging because of its location and its Native American ownership. The grounds were well kept, and the rooms were clean and pleasant. Our room had two queen beds, a table with two chairs, a desk and chair, and two(!) luggage racks. Bathroom facilities were divided into a tiny area with toilet and shower, and a larger space with sink, mirror, etc. Historically, a Trading Post and its jail occupied the motel grounds. This building now houses a cafeteria-style restaurant, which is open for three meals a day, seven days a week. Selection is limited, and quality is adequate. The prices for most cooked items are fantastic, though, and the staff (all Navajo!) are very friendly and helpful. The motel offers twice-weekly cultural performances --- free, and a wonderful touch --- as well as 4- and 8-hour tours of the Canyon.
