My husband and I stayed 2 nights at the Bright Angel Lodge in mid November. Our standard room (queen bed with bathroom) was located in the Powell Lodge, which is in a separate building from the lodge lobby. Make sure you get a map when you check in so you know where to find room and park car. The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable after a full day of hiking. There was a Keurig/coffee pod machine in room. The shower in the bathroom worked great and there is shampoo, soap and lotion dispensers in the shower. Parking was no problem. In fact, we parked the car and did not leave the parking spot until we checked out. We used the shuttle buses or walked to get around the Grand Canyon village. The only noise we heard while staying in our room were people walking/talking down the hall to their rooms and closing doors. Other than that, we slept like babies. We did keep our voices down out of respect for others next door to us. Our room was a short distance to the Rim Trail for sunrises, sunsets and viewing of stars (which is amazing!). Make sure you bring a pocket flashlight or head lamp when walking around the lodge at night. We did eat at the Harvey House Cafe one night, which was good. The 2nd night we went to the El Tovar’s lounge for drinks and food. The morning we watched the sunrise, we purchased coffee and a delicious raspberry pastry from the Canyon Coffee House/Bright Angel Grab n Go. The Bright Angel Lodge is a great place to stay due to price and location. Visiting the Grand Canyon is amazing!

A bit loud but worth the price to be in the park

My room had been recently renovated it looked much nicer than I had expected -- new linens, new carpet, new everything. I was impressed! But what I wasn't impressed by was the noise. My room was right next to the side door (the one leading to the main part of the lodge with the restaurants and gift shop) so I heard everyone that came in and out of the place, talking, laughing, etc. If you stay here, request a room AWAY from the door.

Bright Angel Lodge & Cabin (Partial View)

Partial view cabin room Pros : 1. Location : I stepped out of the cabin and could see the grand canyon. All it to took to view the sunrise on grand canyon was to walk about 100 feet. Bright Angel trail starts right there. Rim Trail starts right there. The bus on the rim starts right there. 2. Parking : Plenty of parking available. 3. The room was comfortably heated with a fan as well so it was good and comfortable. Cons : 1. Space : This is 1 room + Bathroom in the cabin and there is very limited space in it. The queen sized bed pretty much covered the entire room. I have stayed in cabin rooms in other national parks but they were more spacious. 2. Advertised as partial view cabin room : There is no view from inside the room. The windows look out to the walls of the next cabin. So, the room has no view of grand canyon at all. However, you only have to step outside and walk 10 to 20 steps and the grand canyon would come up with the complete view. Also, there are a few cabins with rooms that actually do have the view from their windows but most of the rooms don't have that. 3. Lights : or more to the point, the lack of them along the path from the main building of the lodge(check in office/restaurant) to the cabins. The directions given at checkin are okayish and then you have to figure them out in the dark (with the cellphone flashlight) as to where exactly the lodge is and then how to drive to it. I would advise to first walk to the cabin to figure out where it is and then drive to the parking next to it, We tried to drive based on the directions provided at checkin and couldn't find the correct turn in the darkness. I ended up taking an entire loop to get back to the Lodge. We then just walked to find the cabin with the cellphone flashlight and then it was easy to drive to it. 4. Restaurant : Is bad. Both of us had a tummy ache the next day. The service is very meh. They forget to get something or the other or the glass might not be v clean etc. Taste wise, it's ok. Summary : Would I stay there again? Yes for a couple of nights because of the location. There is no other reason to go stay there. Oh wait, one more reason : I saw a couple of the deers in the parking lot in the morning. (How scary would it have been had it been at night and I was driving? Well, we passed a couple on the road while driving up to grand canyon).

We stayed in the one of the cabins which housed multiple rooms with a common use shower and bathroom. Our room had bathroom with shower, coffee maker, small refrigerator and a porch. The location is great, right on the rim. Room was clean, staff were friendly. The only con as others have mentioned is the thin walls but that would not stop me from staying here again..

Nice room complete with full bathroom, coffee maker, and short walk to south rim of canyon for sunrise views. The only thing negative was thin walls. You could hear coughing, talking and snoring from adjoining rooms. Thankfully, they were quiet by midnight.
