Quaint Cabin Steps from the Rim

My husband and I stayed in a 1 Queen Cabin at the Bright Angel Lodge in April of 2024 during our first trip to the Grand Canyon. We had originally planned to stay at a hotel in Tusayan, but as our trip approached, rooms became available at the Grand Canyon Lodges. We also looked into Maswik Lodge and Thunderbird Lodge, but decided to book a cabin at Bright Angel because it seemed to have everything we would need, and it was surprisingly more affordable than staying outside the park. To say we were delighted with our decision is an understatement! Check-in at Bright Angel Lodge was quick and convenient. Linda at the front desk was friendly and provided a lot of helpful suggestions for where to park, where to eat, etc. We were assigned cabin 6174, which was a duplex cabin. We arrived late in the afternoon and had no trouble finding a parking spot near the rim and our cabin. The cabin itself was adorable and extremely clean! It had a queen-sized bed, a small dresser, one nightstand, a small closet that contained a safe, a mini-fridge, and a coffee maker. The private bathroom had a full shower, toilet, and a small sink. I think our cabin was accessible because the shower appeared to allow for wheelchair access. It included a fold-down seat as well. The only negative was the lack of counter space in the bathroom. There was none, other than a few narrow shelves above the toilet. A hair dryer and toiletries were provided. The outside temperature was in the 70s when we arrived and cooled off into the 40s at night. The cabin does have heat, but we barely had to use it. We were very comfortable and it was extremely quiet. I stepped outside in the middle of the night to check out the sky and was absolutely in awe of how clear it was. There were stars EVERYWHERE! The best thing about the cabin was its proximity to the rim of the Grand Canyon - it was less than a 1-minute walk to the rim! It was also conveniently located next to the restaurants at Bright Angel Lodge and the shuttle stops! We would not hesitate to stay in one of the cabins at the Bright Angel Lodge if we return to the Grand Canyon!

My husband and I stayed at Bright Angel Lodge for one night while visiting the Grand Canyon National Park. The location of this property is perfect! The rim of the canyon was literally in our back yard. We loved being able to watch the sunrise and sunset and then walk just a short distance back to our room. We had a queen room with a private bathroom and it was very nice. The room was clean and we had a mini refrigerator and a coffee/tea machine. The front desk staff were super friendly and welcoming. We loved the big natural fireplace in the main lobby. It smelled wonderful! We also appreciated that they had 2 restaurants, a bar and an ice cream shop on the property. Very convenient!

The Bright Angel cabin was better than expected. Great price for being so close to the rim trail. The cabin is small (basically enough room for the bed and your luggage, but it was comfortable. Bathroom looked like it had been renovated in the past few years. Weather was cool, so lack of A/C was not an issue. Breakfast at Harvey House was great.

Recommend Staying Right at Grand Canyon

The cabin exceeded our expectations. It was spacious, clean and comfortable. We were fortunate to have considerate people on the other side of the connecting cabin. Being an older dwelling, noise can transfer. Check-in and out was very pleasant. It was a good choice to stay right at the breathtaking Grand Canyon to avoid driving into the park each day. We stayed three nights and glad we did. The shuttle service was excellent.

3rd time we have stayed here. Not because they were great but because wanted to stay near the rim. We were pleasantly surprised as they have been renovated. Brand new carpets and beds very comfortable. Coffee making facilities and a fridge in the room now. We stayed when it was quite cold and snowing the rooms were lovely and warm. Communal showers and bathrooms clean.
