Best place to stay. Right next to Yellowstone and doesn't have the same crowd of people. The cabin was perfect had giant beds, fridge, stove and all cooking utensils, very clean as well. Lots of animals and no phone calls!

Splurged for a majestic night in the mountains this past summer and I am glad I did. Great little rustic cabin with a great view. The cabin was clean with plenty of amenities and I could totally picture myself spending many nights there. The cabin had a nice log book of people sharing their animal sighting and tips. Yes, there is zero cell phone service and wifi, it takes a bit to adjust to but it is not the end of the world. For anyone who complains, take a look at a map, Silver Gate is at the edge of wilderness, service is expected to be spotty. Many people head to Silver Gate/Cooke City from Billings, which can cause delays on Beartooth highway. We headed over to Gardiner first and made our way back to Billings from the other direction, way less traffic. We got to truly enjoy the beauty of the road.

We had a week in #10 Whispering Pines cabin. We had everything we needed for a super week. A free spotting scope for the week was part of the deal. We used this to see a mom grizzly bear & 2 cubs & 3 wolves. All possible because of the scope. We can't begin to explain how nice our time here was. We were treated like friends not tourists as soon as we arrived. All of the staff was top notch. They answered our questions with a smile and were genuinely glad to be in this special place. Silver Gate is its own kind of paradise just outside the Yellowstone gate. Do yourself a favor & check it out.

Stayed for three nights in Silver Gate cabin 4, and really loved the time here. So peaceful and lovely to open the door to the amazing views. We wanted to make the most of early mornings in Lamar Valley, and this was the perfect location, we were in the park by 6.15 each morning. Paid off as saw wolves each time. If you are staying three or more nights they offer free use of a spotting scope, which we were so pleased to have the use of. Check in at the store is easy, and the staff there are really helpful. Nice to be able to pick up snacks and a few beers! We had a real mix of weather during our stay, warm then really cold and snow, but the cabin was so cosy. Had dinner over the road at the Log Cabin cafe each night, which was great too.

Great little stopover

We stopped at Silver Gate with the hopes of continuing to Billings via the Beartooth Highway but unfortunately it was closed... However we really enjoyed our one night stay. The cabins are very comfortable with large kitchen. There’s a few restaurants around and small stores and gas station not too far away. The gates to Yellowstone are very close. Limited WiFi and no cellphone reception can be expected.
