Our Impromptu Getaway
We didn’t have a plan. We were strictly flying by the seat of our pants. I searched for lodging in Cooke City and Silver Gate Lodging appeared. The price was a bit higher than we wanted to spend. But after realizing it was actually right in the ball park, I booked Cabin #6 in the Whispering Pines.
We absolutely loved the cabin! And the gals who helped us - I believe it was Haley and Lacey - were superb at their job! They were very helpful with all of our questions.
The cabin was quaint and clean. It was absolutely perfect! The scenery? Absolutely beautiful!
If we ever get that way again, I will definitely make sure to check for availability!
You won’t be disappointed!

Comfortable stay in the lap of beautiful nature
Location of property needless to say is very good being barely 1 mile from Northeast entrance of Yellowstone park and around 30 min drive from Lamar valley where highest concentration of wildlife is present in the park. Property is situated in area surrounded by mountains and lush greenery, on the very first day we spotted Bison in front of our cabin. They have general store too having all necessary things including food items like milk, coffee, yogurt, bread , juice etc along with rental binoculars (20$ per day for residents , 40$ for non residents) and other stuff. In front of property is a nice cafe for breakfast, lunch and dinner with quality and tasty food. We booked PE5 (1 double bed and bunk bed ) which was having all amenities like fridge, oven, utensils, gas burner, heater, coffee machine, sink etc which was more than what we expected. We asked for 2 additional beddings being 6 adults, thus making stay more comfortable. Sheets were comfortable, but blankets were small not covering full body in length, so first night was little restless. From next day we used 2-3 blankets along with heater. Washroom was so tiny that it is impossible for a fat guy to take a shower or squat in shower room (just a small corner in washroom) and Latrine was so closed to washbasin that one can wash hairs while sitting on the pot. Overall it was a great experience, love to come back again.

A special place
Been going here for 18 years and it gets better every time. The atmosphere is so special and if there is a program at the Range Rider it is even better. And the fire place in front of the General Store is always surrounded by interesting folks.

Wonderful cozy experience
We stayed in cabin 6 and loved it! While rustic, everything was clean and in working order. I especially loved the local dog who hung out with us on the porch of our cabin. Beds were comfy and cozy. Only regret is we didn’t stay longer.

Friendly and local
Very local and very friendly staff at the general store. We camped in the area for a month and visited the general store on a couple of occasions. They sell basic products, ice cream, beer, coffee... one lady speaks French also! Very friendly and personable service. They also sell cute metal goats 😊
