This hotel surprisingly surpassed my expectations. It is an antique through and through. This hotel was built in 1912 and has been kept that way ever since. The rooms are cozy and there are shared showers (since the rooms are a little small). The hospitality is amazing. It is owned by a sweet couple who has had this hotel in their family since 1958 and they are super friendly and kind. Super great experience that I would definitely bring my family and friends back to. If you are into luxury, then probably not the place to stay. But if you are into a great cultural experience with friendly people, then this is the place for you. Great stay and I would definitely come again.

I found the hotel searching online. A room was available because we called vs just looking at third party sites. The hotel floor (2nd floor - no elevator) has private bathrooms but no TV. They also have hostel rooms (shared bathroom) during peak and off season and motel rooms during peak season. The hotel is connected to a store and there is a shared TV room. It is an interesting set up in the main part of West Yellowstone close to food, drinks and shopping all within walking distance. It is a nice place to stay.

We stayed a few nights whilst visiting Yellowstone NP. Lovely little hotel, staff were very friendly. Cosy decor, and rooms had a lovely rustic feel. They even provided smores by the fire in the lobby.

Stayed at the hotel after the main tourist season in October and was really impressed with the place. It's updated, but maintains a lot of the feeling of what it must have been like when built in the early 1900's. The room we chose was in the hotel, upstairs on the second floor. The room had log walls and in the bathroom, an old style tub. The bed very comfortable and new. The furniture also preserved the rustic look and feel of the hotel. There are no phones, TV's, etc in the rooms, but the free WiFi worked well. The common area downstairs is amazing. Log construction, rustic feel with a fireplace to warm it. There is a TV, a few games, sofa and comfortable chairs to relax in. If you go there, look at the detail in restoring it, in the back corner near the entrance of the gift shop there is an old phone booth with a very old pay phone (5 cents a call marked on it.) The owner took us on a tour of the motel rooms which are also on site. The rooms have been completely re-done, new beds, carpet, painted, with a lot of modern-rustic touches. If I didn't like the older feel of the hotel I'd stay there. The staff were very friendly and helpful, made us feel very at home. There's coffee and a hot chocolate machine in the back of the hotel, 24 hours a day. I can't really say enough good things about the place. I travel a lot for work, and stay in the corporate style rooms almost 70% of my life. It was really refreshing to stay at the Madison which really made the trip feel like a vacation.

Convenient for the park

Right in the centre of all the action and very close to the park entrance. Room was small and literally on the road, not too fragrantly fresh and the A/C was old and noisy and right by the bed which, however, was comfortable. Lots of coffee and drinks available 24/7 but not close to the room The staff were the best! very helpful and there was an amazing, tasty restaurant next door... also well stocked supermarket very close... a bit noisy through the night because of the proximity to the road.
