they are remodeling right now so I was a tad confused when we pulled up, but the new building we stayed in was awesome. Brand new, very clean, comfy beds....and breakfast in the morning. They are about 20 minutes, if that, outside of west yellowstone and there are restaurants and shops just a few miles down the road in either direction.

Nice New Rooms

We stayed here last minute after having a terrible experience at another hotel in Island Park. Luckily, Sawtelle had two king rooms available at a reasonable price. The rooms were brand new and very clean. This place would be 5 star except for the breakfast. First of all breakfast started at 7:30 am which is a bit late considering most people want to get up early to continue on their road trip through Yellowstone. As soon as breakfast opened up, there were flocks of people trying to use the one waffle maker, which was the only hot item available. We ended up leaving and getting breakfast elsewhere. Overall, I would stay here again if in Island Park, ID.

Difficult to rate.

The hotel is being completely rebuilt, the new parts looking very good. However, we stayed in the old motel block which will be demolished, so I was told. It has certainly passed its sell by date. Everything worked and it was clean, but overpriced for what we got. They had an indoor pool, which was fine, plus gas BBQ facilities. They gave a complimentary breakfast, but is was very basic. As for location, it is a fast road to the western entrance to Yellowstone - takes 25 minutes. There is a small convenience store in the local garage and one restaurant across the road.

Comfortable enough but well overpriced

This motel was 23 miles from West Yellowstone and was fairly close to the highway. There was a hotel, motel and RV Park as part of the complex. The hotel looked quite smart but the motel was big standard US fare with little to recommend it. Fair size but a bit tired and need of an upgrade. Clean and the bed comfortable with a microwave and a fridge it was adequate for our needs. No shops nearby so picked up supplies in West Yellowstone and bought a cheap toaster in Walmart in Idaho Falls on the way up so we had a few Cooking options in the room. There was a bar/ restaurant on site and although we never ate there we did go for a drink and the food looked good and plentiful. Although fairly close to the park entrance it want that close and at £100 a night with no breakfast I thought that was a lot especially as we were staying for 14 nights.

Nice hotel just outside of Yellowstone

Only stayed here overnight. Was a nice hotel (some construction being done). Had a small continental style breakfast. Just enough for us, but probably needs a slight upgrade. Prices in the area are high due to the location of Yellowstone nearby. But, we had a nice overnight stay. My daughter loves to run and she did. She went out in the mountain air and said it was exhilarating. Mind you it was July 27th and the temperature she ran in was 40 degrees. But the sun comes up and it warms up nicely. A general store right across the way for anything you may need. They have an RV Park also. Filled up so I'll assume it was nice also. Recommended.
