I chose this place based on their attractive website and photos. The cabin was not prepared for a winter traveler with reservations. The threshold of the entry door was covered with snow, I walked in to find no rug to wipe my feet on. Also, the cabin was not heated when I arrived, it was about 14 degrees F. It took 1.5 hours to get it warm enough to take my coat off. Because there is no carpeting in the cabin, the floors were uncomfortably cold ( even after I dried them off from my luggage episode). I shared this with the office when I checked out. Leslye Cleveland Ohio

Stone Canyon Lodge far exceeded my expectations with its full kitchen, jacuzzi and hot tub. The views were amazing at sunset from our hot tub! It was early February and we were the only rental. We shared with property with many deer who came to visit. Would love to return when the restaurant is open.

We stayed here three nights while visiting Bryce Canyon National Park. The tree houses are quite new, very clean, a bit secluded, and fun! There are only a couple of them, so book early if you want one.

Property was easy to find using the directions they emailed and our phone's GPS. Staff at check-in was polite, efficient, and courteous. The cabin itself was spotlessly clean, newer, well-maintained, and comfortable. The hot tub on the deck was extremely enjoyable, though pity the two nights we stayed here were cloudy so we didn't get to watch the stars from the hot tub. Nonetheless, the views during the daytime were spectacular. It's an easy 10 minute drive to Bryce Canyon. It's also an easy 15 minute drive to Kodachrome Basin State Park, which is one of the nicest state parks I've visited. If you're visiting Bryce Canyon, consider taking another half or full day to go to Kodachrome Basin. FWIW, Tropic is a tiny town with few dining options, most of which were closed for the season, and all of which were closed on Christmas; I'd recommend bringing your own food if you're visiting in the offseason. The cabin we booked had a full kitchen and a grill on the deck. It's also a small town in Utah, which means BYOB because your booze purchasing options are limited. Regardless, it's quieter than Bryce itself, which has more dining options, but is more crowded. I'd recommend staying here over staying somewhere in Bryce.

Where to begin...

Located just on the outer edge of Tropic it was relatively easy to find following the signs from the main road. On arrival we were upgraded to a cabin. It looks like we were the only guests on the entire site (a great time of year to visit!) The cabins were phenomenal; parking right outside and inside we had a two really spacious bedrooms with a more than ample living area complete with kitchen. There is a store in Tropic so you can buy your supplies to eat in as we did. Good job as most if not all eateries in the area were closed for the season. You are sited around 10 miles from Bryce Canyon so this is an ideal location to explore. We made use of the sauna which didn’t get that hot - it was -6c outside though. The hot tub was just fantastic and a bit surreal sitting outside semi-naked in such cold temperatures. The sunset was pretty special too! Probably one of the best self-catering places we’ve stayed. Highly recommended
