The Grand Hotel at the Grand Canyon

Stayed for one night. Our room was clean with comfortable beds. Bathroom fully stocked. There is a Keurig with coffee & chocolate pods, plus bottles of water. The bathroom door was disconnected from the bottom hinge and there was a small hole in one of the bedsheets. This was reported to management on check out. Staff at the front desk were courteous. The hotel is disability friendly including the pool.
We had drinks and appetizer in the bar. The barman was friendly.
Later that evening we decided to eat in the hotel restaurant. A bad decision on our part. I will not elaborate in this review, however my review of their restaurant is on this website. The Grand should be ashamed, and they definitely need to review the the workings of this restaurant.
I would recommend the hotel but avoid the restaurant. We had a great room rate via Expedia.

Not bad... but not exceptional.
Quick check in. Nice room. Needs a bit of maintenance though (bathroom mirror water stained, bedroom carpet stained, bath sealant cracked and mouldy and bathroom product dispensers heavily caked in limescale). Housekeeping store extra beds at the end of the corridor (which looks awful). Front desk helpful. Daily housekeeping was good.
Pool is small (more for kids than exercise) and has aged a lot since website photos. Good fitness room. Bar is great, good drink selection and bar staff full of local tips and friendly.
RESTAURANT IS AWFUL and really lets the hotel down. Breakfast expensive and rubbish and not included. Live music in the evenings is a solo guy on the banjo (very awkward). Food is expensive, dining room is dark and dingey.
Overall I don’t regret staying in the off season but if I payed top dollar ($499) summer rates I would be disappointed.

Beautiful, cozy American Hotel
I saw so many mixed reviews about this hotel that put me off a little bit. However, when I got to the hotel I was surprised by a room upgrade, water and lime a delicious complimentary Gioza in the lobby. Room was very good and I was surprised by the variety of toiletries in the washroom. Including a nice touch of local soap. I went to the Saloon, although the food and service didn’t blow my mind, it was very decent. Wine was really delicious. Lobby is simply amazing!! All in all, I would 100% stay again

Dirty room, never found items I forgot, terrible staff
Do yourself a favor and skip this property. I feel compelled to warn other travelers by sharing our terrible experience at this hotel. My wife and 2 kids stayed at the property over Thanksgiving 2019.
There are a few positives: the lobby and common areas are nice, the swimming pool is nice and warm, check in was quick and painless.
But this hotel is a disaster in so many other ways, I highly advise you go elsewhere:
1. Our room was not vacuumed when we checked in. They had to come vacuum it after we checked in. It was really dirty and because we already had our stuff in the room, they couldn't vacuum a lot of the dirt out.
2. The drain of the bath tub was clogged, they had to come unclog it.
3. The food is bad - the breakfast buffet is average (great choice, but nothing was actually good) and diner was below average.
4. Service is horrendous at diner: the waiter literally through our plates around and was borderline impolite.
5. Probably the most important item: we checked out during a snowstorm, the power had gone off. We couldn't see well in the room. I forgot my headphones and my Gopro camera in a dark corner. I called the hotel 7 times over 5 days without ever getting a call back from the person in charge of lost and found. I finally just received a text notifying me that my items were not found. I know exactly where I forgot them, it's completely unacceptable that they didn't locate them.

We had the pleasure of staying at the Grand Hotel at the Grand Canyon on Tuesday, November 26, 2019. Having stayed at hotels all over the US and Europe, this hotel is by far head and shoulders above any hotel in the US barring NONE! Check in was flawless, the rooms are apportioned with everything you would ever need or want and impeccably cleaned and prepared. The staff members throughout the hotel were very courteous and helpful with whatever we asked of them. Special shout out to 'Michae'l in the dining room as he offered information about the Canyon as he himself has hiked the various rims and floors. He will be an outstanding credit to the US Air Force!!
The lobby with the grand fireplace and various animals on the walls give the hotel a warm and welcome atmosphere. I cannot say enough good things about the hotel, but if you are visiting the Grand Canyon, this should be your Number 1 hotel of choice each and every time!! Well done Mr General Manager and all of the staff!!
