We tried to get lodging in the Bright Angel and El Tovar lodges on the rim of the Grand Canyon; needless to say both hotels were fully booked - we were obviously disappointed. However, the moment we walked into the Grand Hotel in Tusayan we were amazed. The lobby was like walking into one of the national park lodges - expansive, rustic in appearance and well appointed. The front desk personnel were efficient and poilite. The rooms were attractive and more than adequate. The room ammentities were on a level with a high-end resort property. Our room was clean, the bed comfortable and the noise level low. This hotel is approximately1.5 miles from the Grand Canyon South Rim entry station. Very worth considering.

Great staff. Huge lobby where I entertained my granddaughter while her parents slept in the morning. Great room. One problem in my sons room are these giant sky lights that allow the sun to come in at 0500 with no blinds or way to block it. Horrible design flaw

Nice Amenities, convenient location, but........

Overall, this is a very nice hotel, with nice in-room amenities (I especially appreciated having a real coffee mug instead of a paper cup for my Keurig-brewed coffee) and a lobby with an interesting shop and a pleasant room with games like checkers for the families. I'm not a big fan of all the taxidermy on display, but it definitely has the hunting lodge feel if you are into that kind of thing. The location is really convenient--most people could walk to anything in Tusayan from the hotel and the purple shuttle line to and from the Grand Canyon stops right in front of the building. You can't get much more convenient than that. I will say, however, that I didn't think it was worth the price. The room wasn't exactly spotless and the sheets were stained--not with fresh stains, but still. The complementary bottle of mouthwash in our bathroom was half empty and had bits of something and a gnat floating in it. We heard a lot of hall noise--running, yelling kids, and adults speaking loudly; we had a room next to the vending machines/ice machines and could hear a lot of racket from there, too. It wasn't a bad experience, but those little things add up, especially at this kind of nightly rate. We plan to come back to the Grand Canyon and will stay in Tusayan again, but maybe not at this particular hotel.

We couldn't get a reservation inside the Park (you must book a year ahead of time for that in peak or shoulder season). We booked this 6 mo ahead of time Nice place only about 5-10 min from Park south rim entrance. Decent restaurant (breakfast buffet felt cheap but was well stocked) Room was fine - loved that there was a fridge. Toiletries were fine. Lots of pillows A/C worked well noise level ok Parking ok service good

Right on the doorstep of the south rim of the Grand Canyon i can not fault this hotel. The staff were amazing and very helpful regarding the Grand Canyon National Park - they issued us with maps and plenty of information. The room was lovely and the beds were so comfy. Would definately stay again.
