Grand Canyon Visit during Pandemic
My wife, 2 small kids and I spent two nights at this hotel during the pandemic to visit the Grand Canyon. Overall I would consider this hotel ‘ok’ especially during these difficult times but probably one I may not choose to go back to. I think the overall experience was exacerbated with the current Covid-19 situation so my comments may or may not apply once things hopefully get back to normal. From the outside the Hotel feels likes a Hampton Inn, Holiday In Express or Best Western so the name of the hotel and photos on the site could be slightly misleading. While the hotel is located outside of the park, it is still very close to the entrance and overall convenient if you cannot find anything in the park (since most hotels operated at 1/2 capacity and we booked last minute following cancelled European vacations, the choices were limited). The check-in was fine and the hotel had taken great precautions with thick plexiglass between check-in attendants and travelers; we also received a keyless option by downloading an app through the phone which was convenient and limited the number of touches. We got a room on the ground floor next to the pool (indoor pool was closed due to Covid) and overlooking the parking lot. Nothing fancy in the room but it was large enough and clean. Note that also there was no room cleaning or room service option again due to all the restrictions in place. Overall it felt very sterile. The restaurant was great and offered a good variety of dinner options while following strict distanciation and hygiene protocols. The options for the to go breakfast were not very good (frozen food and sandwiches needing re-heating ; did not feel appetizing). The staff overall was cordial but not overly friendly or excited (understandable considering the state of the pandemic in Arizona). So our experience was not bad but I can’t say it was fantastic either; I am sure it would have been better under normal circumstances though. If you are looking for descent pricing, convenience and a clean accommodation the this hotel does the trick while being outside of the park.

Great Location, most unfriedly staff
The hotel in itself is ok but the people are horrible.
Front desk, a complete disaster. They would be perfect for the book in department of a jail.
The bar tenders attitude was unbelievable.
Not able to serve a bottle of wine, and when reminded how to do it right, he was so pissed off that he slamed the bottle in front of me and left.
That man has NO concept and should not work in the industry.

Great place to stay!
Very close to the Grand Canyon. Cute gift shop and we enjoyed a delicious dinner at their restaurant. Great food and a friendly staff. Rooms were clean and confortable. We enjoyed our stay! Although the indoor pool was closed due to the Corona Virus, it looked really refreshing

The rm. was clearly not clean. Fortunately I carry a spray bottle of alcohol with us which we needed the entire bottle! Although I had asked a week in advance for early check in and was told that could easily happen. We arr. at 1 pm, no rm. I told the clerk I would check back in an hour. At 2 pm, no rm. I told the clerk again I would check back at 3 pm. This was the same clerk that I had spoken to a week earlier that had told me a 1 pm early check in would be no problem. As my wife and I had to kill time we found a steak house that was open. Unfortunately I don't recall the name of it. Service and food was five star. We returned to the Grand at 4 pm. The rm. was still not ready. I asked to speak to a manager. A young women told me she was a supervisor. I explained the situation to her as stated above. She was very apologetic. I told her I felt that we had really been let down by Grand and that I felt we should be compensated for it. She thought a minute and gave us a $100.00 discount on the $247.00 rm. I told her my wife and I would wait in the lobby for our rm. At 4:30 she called me to tell me our rm. was ready. I asked her if she had a cart for our luggage to which she replied, "No." We had to carry everything quite a distance by hand to our rm. Right away I noticed there was no toilet paper in the bathroom. I went out of our rm. and asked a maid for toilet paper. She told me I would have to call the front desk for that. We couldn't believe what was happening. We needed to call the front desk for toilet paper yet the rm had not been properly cleaned, there was debris and something sticky on the floor, the shower had not been cleaned. The excuse given for having to call the front desk for toilet paper was due to Covid19 yet in the shower were three pump bottles of shampoo, conditioner and body soap. As I had said in the beginning, I'm glad I had with us a qt. spray bottle of alcohol! It was quite well needed. Breakfast was an additional charge. As nasty as everything was in the rm. needless to say we chose to go to McDonald's instead. When I went to check out the next morning another man was there doing the same. He told the clerk that as part of his work he had stayed in many four star facilities and that without a doubt this had to be the worst one ever. At that point I chimed in to air my dissatisfaction as well. The other man told the clerk she needed to address our grievances with management to which she replied that she had on several occasions. I told her that if management was that out of tune with their own business that time may easily come when they no longer have a business and that I would definitely write every review I could find to clue people in to what a dump this location is. The other man said he would be doing the same. The night before we stayed in Williams at the Best Western for $89.00 and were given a five star breakfast and stellar service as oppose to this outfit for $247.00. Yes, after considerable complaint and I really think the supervisor was so embarrassed by it all I was given a $100.00 discount. Yet everyone in the hotel had to call and ask for toilet paper - such a basic need of anyone! No this place absolutely at best rates a zero!!!! I really feel that when I had been told a week previously that an early check in, and I did state as early as 1 pm, and then when we did in fact show up at 1 pm, that if the front desk had their heads on their shoulders they could have easily gotten housekeeping to clean our rm. for us and it would have been ready when we returned at 2 pm. To put it to the point I really think those at the front desk frankly didn't give a damn!!!!

The condition is good, the decoration facilities are quite new, the level is equivalent to four stars in Asia, the rooms are fairly large and well equipped. Comfortable and soft beds. Parking is very convenient too. Breakfast is not recommended unless you don’t mind spending so much on it. McDonalds has cheaper breakfast
