We stayed one night at Apgar village inn as the starting point to our time in GNP. We were supposed to stay two additional nights at the end of our trip, but those did not happen due to the Howe Ridge Fire. We arrived in the park and hiked Avalanche - it was 96 degrees which felt cool coming from 108 In Spokane. Checked into Apgar Village Inn. First floor and still had a fabulous view! Beds comfy. Clean. Forget using internet though :(. That evening, lightening struck Howe ridge and we woke to tiny puffs of smoke across the lake. Left for Logan’s to hike highline- by the time we returned to the parking lot the fire had exploded and entire west side of GTTSR was closed and never reopened. We did swing through Apgar after a 2 week stay on the east side to watch the planes scoop water from lake McDonald for containment. Bottom line- Apgar Village Inn has amazing views and I would stay here again!

If you are traveling to Glacier National Park the Village Inn is a place you must stay. The views from the hotel are amazing. It’s all about location. The rooms are nice and within walking distance of food and shopping.

A gem of a place!

This was the sweetest little inn ever. So kitschy and fun, with retro decor...but intentional, not dirty, old, faded. It didn’t feel run down, just like a new take on an older “modern” design. We arrived at night and woke the next morning to the stunning view of Lake Macdonald right outside our door. The kids enjoyed playing on the rock beach. Several little cute shops within walking distance, although the Park really rolls up the sidewalks come the beginning of September. There was literally nowhere to eat close to this hotel. They had all closed for the season. I do realize they were close to shutting down for the season as well, but it would be helpful for some kind of dining accommodations onsite. We luckily had the room with a kitchen and brought our own groceries. When we ran out of bread, however, we had to drive 25 minutes away and check several places to find some. So come prepared! All in all, I would LOVE to come back to this wonderful little place.

So happy to stay here again

We stayed here 2 years ago. This time we were in a 2 bedroom 2nd floor suite which still had spectacular balcony views of Lake McDonald. Room was spacious with all the amenities one would want. Each room has the most comfortable wood Adirondack-type chairs outside and underneath an overhang allowing unobstructed views of the lake no matter the weather. Although the Village Inn appears to be priced somewhat below rates for staying in the historic lodges in Glacier Park we think it well worth the cost because of the excellent proximity to the lake. Shops & eateries are behind the inn and free park shuttle stop right there, too. We'll return again as there are day hikes galore we have yet to walk.
