If you are traveling to Glacier National Park the Village Inn is a place you must stay. The views from the hotel are amazing. It’s all about location. The rooms are nice and within walking distance of food and shopping.

A gem of a place!

This was the sweetest little inn ever. So kitschy and fun, with retro decor...but intentional, not dirty, old, faded. It didn’t feel run down, just like a new take on an older “modern” design. We arrived at night and woke the next morning to the stunning view of Lake Macdonald right outside our door. The kids enjoyed playing on the rock beach. Several little cute shops within walking distance, although the Park really rolls up the sidewalks come the beginning of September. There was literally nowhere to eat close to this hotel. They had all closed for the season. I do realize they were close to shutting down for the season as well, but it would be helpful for some kind of dining accommodations onsite. We luckily had the room with a kitchen and brought our own groceries. When we ran out of bread, however, we had to drive 25 minutes away and check several places to find some. So come prepared! All in all, I would LOVE to come back to this wonderful little place.

So happy to stay here again

We stayed here 2 years ago. This time we were in a 2 bedroom 2nd floor suite which still had spectacular balcony views of Lake McDonald. Room was spacious with all the amenities one would want. Each room has the most comfortable wood Adirondack-type chairs outside and underneath an overhang allowing unobstructed views of the lake no matter the weather. Although the Village Inn appears to be priced somewhat below rates for staying in the historic lodges in Glacier Park we think it well worth the cost because of the excellent proximity to the lake. Shops & eateries are behind the inn and free park shuttle stop right there, too. We'll return again as there are day hikes galore we have yet to walk.

Located right at the western end of Lake McDonald, the lodge rooms provide an unbeatable view down the length of the lake with a mountain peak backdrop. The decor is a bit rustic but the rooms are clean, comfortable and reasonably priced. The checkin was easy and friendly. For a late September Glacier Park visit, this was the only in-park lodge still open. Get beyond the rustic decor and you have a incredible view from a room that fulfills all the basic needs and requirements. We would not hesitate to stay here again on a subsequent Glacier Park visit.

I don't need to repeat all of the fabulous descriptions about this lodging - they're all true. It's an absolutely beautiful spot, the hotel is kept wonderfully clean and comfortable, the "village" of Apgar itself is quaint and friendly. It was, for me, a relaxing oasis in an otherwise active vacation. If given the opportunity to stay on the west side of Glacier, then stay here. If you're wondering if the cost of the Village Inn over the other lodging choices in Apgar is worth it - yes it is. If you do stay at the Village Inn, then definitely plan some time to BE THERE, not just sleep there. Enjoy the beach, rent a canoe or kayak, wade in Lake McDonald, sit on a chair and be amazed by the views. Loved it here.
