We had a fantastic stay at the ranch. It is in a really beautiful location under the Wyoming hills and between a river and creek. The owners and all of the staff are down to earth, friendly and great to talk to. We stayed in the lower season once the dude ranch weeks were over, and loved the more quiet atmosphere. The service was super, particularly at breakfast and dinner where you receive table service. All of the food was really delicious - breakfast has a great hot spread, and dinner varies every night and comes with generous sides and amazing dessert. The owner kindly took us out on a trail ride up to a ridge behind the property - easily the best trail ride I’ve been on, great horses and such a spectacular view. Highly recommended for a ranch stay in the heart of Wyoming.

A rustic jewel.

If you want to stay at a place where you are treated just like family this is the place to go. The owner Johnie is someone you would like to have as a neighbor. The staff is fantastic. The food is all homemade. You can ride horses or burros up into the mountains. This is a getaway. No phones, tv but more than enough to keep you busy all day long. This is the place to stay when going to Yellowstone.

Stunning views that literally took my breath away!

I had been wanting to book a ride during our trip out west but didn’t have any idea where. Then my friend posted a picture on Facebook of the ride she took at Blackwater Creek and I looked no further. Since my husband and I would be traveling from Cody to Yellowstone during our trip, the location of the ranch was perfect. I called the ranch and after learning about the different rides we decided on the two and a half hour ride because it would take us up on the ridge....same ride my friend took....I wanted the same views. I’ve not ridden much but Diana, one of the owners, assured me that I did not need to be an experienced rider and that I would do just fine. And I did. However my hind end is still hurting a bit and we rode almost two weeks ago. I think the reason I’m still in a little pain is a combination of not much padding and all the bouncing I endured while coming back down off the ridge. If I were to do it again I would inquire as to what I could have done differently to insure that I didn’t bounce so much. I’m sure I wasn’t doing something right but I wasn’t made aware of what it might be. The wranglers (both named Sam) were awesome. Both were very personable, knowledgeable, helpful, and respectful. The views when we reached the ridge were indescribable and with the help of both Sams I’ve got great pictures of my husband and I to frame. I managed to get a few good pictures myself while sitting on my horse.....I didn’t get off for fear that I wouldn’t be able to get back on without something to stand on.....I’m a bit short. Coming down off the ridge was brutal but the views were awesome and the horses knew what they were doing. While I would not take that particular ride again without some training (I still hurt) I am glad for the experience and I wouldn’t hesitate to ride with that outfit again. Thank you Diana, Sam, and Sam for the wonderful experience.

We stopped overnight on our way from Yellowstone to Cody. Such amazing scenery all the way. We stayed in a cabin with 2 double beds and small bathroom. The beds were comfortable, there was a heater when it got a little chilly at night and the shower was hot. The cabins are not modern but exactly as we expected - and were clean with nice clean towels. The wifi is available in the cabins and works well - which is a blessing after the lack of connectivity in Yellowstone. Dinner was a set meal around 6pm - delicious! Meat loaf with scalloped potatoes and vegies, and a yummy apple pie followed by coffee. There is a bar with any drinks that you want. There is a pool and spa - which we didn't use. They light a fire in the middle of the cabins around 8pm for guests to sit around. Each cabin has a good balcony to sit and enjoy the fresh country air - just watch out for the mosquitoes. We really enjoyed our stay.

Everthing was perfect with our stay at Blackwater Creek Ranch. The beds slept great and the staff went out of their way to help us plan the rest of our adventure in Yellowstone. They even fixed us a last minute dinner one night. Thank you for being so accomodating to our dietary needs and for all the helpful hints, Hope to return since we had 6 days to see Yellowstone and couldn't do it. This really is a great location for seeing the east side of the park.
