My husband and I stayed for two nights in this hotel. There are a few different buildings and I would recommend not staying in the main one. It’s loud and the most run down. The place is dated and I realize you are paying for location. It’s a mediocre hotel at best. The odd experience was in the very overpriced Wagon Wheel Pub. We got a discount coupon when we checked in. We decided to grab a beer and an appetizer around 5 pm. There was a woman with a screaming baby sitting in one of the booths eating. Another man was eating at the bar. After about ten minutes, more folks came in and we soon started to figure out that they were all employees. I felt like we had walked into the Employee Lounge. Very weird and uncomfortable! And the baby continued to scream. We went to the bar at The Best Western. If I could do it over again...I’d stay there!

There are not a lot of choices around the Grand Canyon, so we picked the Grand Canyon Plaza Hotel as the least bad place to stay, and that is how it turned out. The good things were that the price was reasonable. The bad things are many and reminded me of why the 1970's was the decade of bad style. To give you an idea of how bad 1970's design was, this hotel is surrounded by beautiful countryside, but the balconies face into a covered courtyard which stinks of chlorine from the hot tub and pool. If you want to gas yourself with chlorine, then sit on your balcony! The rooms are dark and dingy and the furnishing is pure 1970's. Everything is 1970's apart from the TV from the year 2000. If you are visiting the Grand Canyon then Grand Canyon Plaza Hotel is probably the least bad place to stay, hence 3 out of 5 - normally I would rank it a 2.

Close to the Grand Canyon. Has some dog friendly rooms which is very nice. Good breakfast, either the buffet or off the menu. We enjoyed our 3 nights. Their concierge was very helpful. He helped us set up a helicopter trip (which we loved.)

Unbelievable. I will never stay there again nor should you !!! No one needs this headache. BTY the place is no better than a one star motel.

BED BUG ALERT

My e-mail to Guest Services: I would like you to know that our room 263 had bed bugs. I have bites all over my stomach and legs. My husband has bites on his legs. Our friends who stayed in a room 265 were also bitten. I find it difficult to believe that you were not aware of the problem and find it inconceivable that you would continue to rent out room(s) in that condition. Shame on you. I will be sure to post on every social media site to warn other travelers. I would have e-mailed sooner but I was busy dealing with our luggage and clothing which was surely contaminated. That aside, guest services never replied to my e-mail to inquire about shuttle service to the park which I sent on 5/13/19 at 3:17 PM or the follow up e-mail sent on 5/16/19 at 11:06 AM. There was also no cold water at the hand sink in the room. Both faucets were hot water and it was fun trying to rinse the soap off my face with scalding water!
