They get five stars because I'm pretty sure it's one of the best places to stay in the area. Just five minutes north of town the Yurts (6-7 total I think) are spread around a nice piece of property in a quite location. We stayed in the smaller one and it was good sized for a couple. Stars were great at night (as long as you're not smoked out by one of the fire pits around the property). Well cared for and clean it is a nice alternative to the hotel scene. Only down side might be the way sound carries through the walls of the yurts as they are only vinal. Though the next yurt over is 30 feet away you will hear every word if your neighbors are at all loud. The owners will also insist you sign a multi page contract/agreement with all the rules covering your stay which was obviously put together by an overzealous lawyer. They will then proceed to hand you a one page information sheet that, in some places, directly contradicts the contract you just signed! Owners seemed aware of this problem but I assume are not getting many complaints about it.

Driving from Vegas to Salt Lake we decided it would be fun to try something different - so glad we did! Tucked back on a winding quiet road with views for miles. Check-in was a breeze and our yurt was much more nice than expected. Nice big bed, sofa, fully appointed bathroom (even robes!) TV, Wifi and plenty of outlets. Thank goodness for the A/C - it was hot out! A continental breakfast was brought on a tray - much appreciated. Coffee pot. Microwave. Small fridge. A total delight.

Charming Alternative to the ordinary!

My fiance and I were recently riding our Harley across the West when we stumbled upon Escalante Yurts. Sadly, we were just passing through but we stopped to check it out for a future visit. The owner, Scott Roundy, greeted us with open arms and gave us a lovely tour. Being an avid fan of alternative dwellings, I was amazed at the size, modern conveniences, view and all around charming qualities of these yurts! We spent some quality time with Scott who answered all of our questions and treated us like family. We are planning a return trek soon strictly to stay here because of the level of kindness and hospitality of the owner along with the outstanding uniqueness of this oasis in Escalante. If you are planning a trip to this area, treat yourself to a nomadic adventure...you will not be disappointed!

We were delighted with the beautiful yurt we stayed in during our recent visit to Escalante for slot canyoneering. Was fun and different, and our hosts Stan and Jan were eager to make sure our visit was great. We hope to be back!

We, a family of seven from Belgium, where here in july 2019 and stayed for three nights in the Cedar. The yurt was just what we needed: plenty of room for grand-parents, parents and three children, comfortable and clean, privacy, a BBQ and every morning a complete breakfast! We went to Bryce, did the Calf-Creek walk and the Burr Trail, the last two on advice of our host. Good choice! Highly recommending. Thanks for the opportunity to stay with you. Jef and family.
